why do you limit the characters in the meta descrition to 150? when Google will display up to 160... those extra 10 characters can be very usefull to us as webmasters

Hello Pat6389,

Different search engines display different lengths and it can vary, but only a max of between 150 to 160 characters will be visible. For this reason, the limit is generally considered to be 150 characters with spaces. This is why we limit to 150 to ensure that the meta description will be displayed on the search engine without being cut off.

I thought that might be your answer, but concidering Googlre accounts for over 80% of search why not let us put amount of characters they allow... we can always adjust it acccordingly.

In addittion, the title tag is also restricted in character limit by all search engines but you don't restict it,,, kind of contratictory if you ask me!

Why not just give us no charcater limits and let us decide what we whant to use

P.S

Sitebuilder software had no limits and there were no complaints , so why restrict on the desktop version?

The only thing we can do is put a feature request in to add the additional 10 characters. This would be added if possible by the developers in a future release. I will put this request in for you.

Appreciate it, thanks... no offence though, I've heard that before!
