Ok...I'm totally frustrated with the attributes functions and the way they are set up. Many of my products have up to 3 different shared attributes...and many MANY attribute pricing values.

Example:
Bedding sets which have the main pricing attributes of "Size" (twin, full, queen, king, california king) - "Bed Skirt Size" (14", 18", 21") - and "Accessories" (square pillow, neck roll pillow, saddlebag pillow, euro shams, drapes, tailored valance, pleated valance, shaped valance, shower curtain.

My problem is, I have to add the pricing to each separate configuration stated above which will take me the rest of my life to get done (and that's just for ONE product!). Is there ANY way at all to make this process easier without having to list each item in a separate listing? Having to list each item separately only confuses the customers, looks horrible, fills up way too much page space, makes it very difficult to navigate, and reduces potential sales. Is there something I'm missing or not doing correctly?

This is my suggestion: a website that lists all the options (accessories) on the main listing for one particular product: http://www.cabinplace.com/wsluxurysta...

.....As opposed to my website: http://stores.homestead.com/springcre..., in which the accessories have to be listed separately in order to get my products listed before I die of old age.

I hope you can see what I'm getting at and why I'm so frustrated. The above example is just a suggestion, but the current process here at Homestead is extremely painful to use, and seems quite archaic and horribly outdated.

Is this something you guys might consider, or look at improving in the near future?

Hi Marcy,

Thanks for the feedback and idea!

Unfortunately the ecommerce platform (prostores) was built from Ebay and takes a while for updates and builds to be made. I've passed this on to our dev team to request, but it could be a while until prostores implements it.

Thanks,

Chris

There has been no change in the Prostores system. However, we are in the process of converting our Storefront hosting plan to a platform designed by Bigcommerce, which is far superior and attributes (called Options in Bigcommerce), are much easier to set up.

Hi Chris,

Ahhh...glorious eBay. Now I understand why things are so difficult. I knew I'd seen this platform somewhere before, but I never put two and two together. Thanks for passing this on to the dev team!

I completely understand the situation you guys are facing in trying to reconfigure and improve the functions. As long as We, the public, keep seeing that Homestead/Intuit is REALLY trying to improve the builds in a timely manner (not just trying to pacify us), then I think we'll have a great platform to use eventually. The 3 main problems I see right now are the Navigation Menus, the Attribute functions, and the inability to use the wysiwyg or resize the tables. Also today, I went in and changed the image sizes from 200px back down to 150px (so as not to take up so much page space) and now my images are all off kilter. Not sure how to fix that..

I used the Image Settings field in the store manager btw

Hi Marcy,

Thanks for the reply. As far as the image settings, I believe once you chance them in the Image Settings field, you need to reupload the image to have it take proper shape. Please try removing the image from one of your products and re-adding it to see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Yes, I did try that and it works. Problem is, I would have to re-upload about 200 + photos. It's just a big pain in the arse. :-) Wish the images would automatically resize to whatever dimensions you adjust them to (100px to 800px). BUT...one thing at a time I guess!

Will work on getting my pictures together and upload all at once via zip file. In the meantime, I just reverted the images back to the original size settings for now.

Thanks for all your help!

Hey Marcy,

I completely agree that the software needs some updates as re-uploading 200+ photos is a nice waste of time :)

I've sent over this suggestion as well to pass on to prostores. If I hear something back I'll update this thread.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for the comments folks! The more feedback we get to the developers the better product we can offer.

Hi Marcy,

There are some pretty significant changes coming in the next few months. I do believe that you might find the attribute function more to your liking. Sometime soon, you will receive an email concerning the change.

Thanks

Drew
