Whitelisting is a free ticket to a server or domain to send spam. For this reason we do not maintain any whitelist.

Do you have a copy of any bounce message they received? I have made a different adjustment that may solve the issue. Have them try again.

The messages did not bounce back to them. They show in their email logs as sent. They are not reaching me, but not bouncing back to them. They gave me instructions on how to edit the DNS settings to verify donorView as a sender for my domain. I have followed those instructions and now contacted them to validate that the record has been added correctly.

Does that sound correct?

It could be. Can you tell us what they told you to do?

Verify your sender domain so that recipient servers know it is you.

1. SPF

In your domain's DNS settings create a TXT record. Enter:

Name: enter @ symbol or use yourdomain.com

Type: TXT

Value: v=spf1 a mx include:cvdel.com ~all

*DNS settings should only have 1 SPF record. If there is an existing SPF record, just add "include: cvdel.com" to the existing record (make sure you remove the quotes). Make sure it is added before any IPs. For example, if your domain already has the record:

v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.google.com ~all .

The final record would look like this:

v=spf1 a mx include:_spf.google.com include:cvdel.com ~all

  2. DKIM

Create a TXT record. Enter:

Host/Name: api._domainkey

Value: k=rsa;t=s;p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCbmGbQMzYeMvxwtNQoXN0waGYaciuKx8mtMh5czguT4EZlJXuCt6V+l56mmt3t68FEX5JJ0q4ijG71BGoFRkl87uJi7LrQt1ZZmZCvrEII0YO4mp8sDLXC8g1aUAoi8TJgxq2MJqCaMyj5kAm3Fdy2tzftPCV/lbdiJqmBnWKjtwIDAQAB

*DNS settings can have as many DKIM records as needed

  3. Tracking

Create a CNAME record. Enter:

Host/Name: tracking

Value: tracking.cvdel.com

4. DMARC

Create a TXT record. Enter:

Host/Name: _dmarc

Value: v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100; rua=mailto:youremailaddress@yourdomain.com; ruf=mailto:youremailaddress@yourdomain.com

5. Validate

Contact DonorView support so we can validate that the record have been added correctly

Unfortunately, our default nameservers are not able to add records that contain an underscore. There is another set available, but you would be unable to edit records without calling us to do it.

The other option is that you can use 3rd part nameservers and we can provide you with the records needs for your website and email.

So, I searched a few of the emails from donotreply@donorview.com and they are marked as spam. I analyzed them for the content and it is in fact the domain name itself being flagged as spam. Our spam filter reports that they send emails to known spam traps, or honey pots. It is very possible that they could be blocked again if this continues, but for now I was able to clear it so the messages should come through.

I am not sure what has happened - but as of today I am not receiving any emails from DonorView. I routinely email back and forth: support@donorview.com - I always get a very quick response back. I have sent several emails times today and received nothing back. It seems that DonorView has been blocked completely?

I see 3 going out from you in the last 24 hours. Does that sound correct? I do not see anything coming in from that address though. If we were blocking it, I would see it hitting our server and being flagged, but nothing has come from there that I can see.

that is correct - I have sent 3 today. I will try to connect with DonorView another way and see if it is on their end. Thank you for your help. This is really a mess.

If, as our spam filter reported, that domain is sending email to know traps, then they are likely to get flagged by more than our service.
