We are terribly sorry for the ongoing email issues and not having an ETA for when will be resolved. We understand that email is a critical part of running a business so we would like to do what is in your best interest.

1. If you need an update on the email situation, you can visit the announcement thread here

2. If you would like to set up a new email account so that you can get back to business you may wish to do so through our partner Domain.com. See instructions.

3. If you do create an email account with Domain.com you will need to update your MX records through the Domain Manager screen on Homestead.com See instructions.

This thread will remain open for questions if anyone needs help changing their MX records.

Please do not use this thread for posting complaints or venting. We do understand how frustrating this is for many of you but I need to keep this thread focused on helping customers. If you would like to voice a complaint use this thread.

Email outage.

Why is there a system-wide email failure? A client brought to my attention that she received a failure bounce-back email. When I called, there is no eta of when this will be resolved - just a generic recording. This will hurt my and many other businesses and is really unacceptable when email is such a vital communication tool!

My e-mail is very slow, logs out as "server unresponsive" and clogged with spam. Starting to look like Hotmail which I left to open the account with you. I would hate to loose customers by moving to another e-mail.

For the last couple days my email accounts have been extremely slow. Like dial up slow. It's taking 15-20 seconds just to open or delete an email. Heaven forbid there's an attachment. This problem is isolated to my homestead email accounts.

Intuit could at least send a message to our setup email accounts to notify us! To have an issue like this with no communication is ridiculous! I doubt I will be staying with Intuit for much longer with this type of product/customer service!

I am one of the many with the intermittent email flow for the last few days. For the last two days my email folders have disappeared on the left side? Why does the Spamhaus spam filter reject ntlworld and virginmedia?.

Since the new spam filter was introduced my email account does not receive emails from anyone with ntlworld.com based emails. I have tracked this to spamhaus. For some reason spamhaus is blocking all email from ntlworld.com when they are used in conjunction with Outlook Express 6. This is the message:

This is the mail system at host know-smtprelay-10-imp. I am sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. The message is attached below. The remote mail system said: 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [80.0.253.74] blocked using zen.spamhaus.org; http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=8...

It is not a blacklisted IP address. I believe that there is a misconfiguration on the spam filter that is causing the rejection.

Any ideas?

So your solution to our problem is direct us to sign in to homestead- which it won't allow for most of us to do- and then pay domains.com for email service that we are already paying intuit/homestead for?

The blacklists are obviously a result of the unusual amount of spam. The blacklist issue something that our email admins are also working on clearing up and will be resolved once the new servers and spam filters are in place.

This blacklist issue is indeed very similar to what happened a few months ago. However the cause is a bit different. It took a couple of weeks to clear up the blacklists when this happened the last time. Since we are facing similar time-frame again, our management has decided the best long term resolution is to upgrade the entire email system. The time to fix this will be similar to the last time but by adding new servers, new spam filters, etc. it will be far more reliable than before.

Email does not work, again!
How many times is this going to happen? How many clients sessions do I have to miss before the problem is corrected? If intuit is unable to fix the problem it is ok but please let me know so that I can plan accordingly.
Thank you.

Spam overwhelming my email. Help.

For the first time ever, I am getting hugh numbers of spam email. If it continues much longer, I can die happy with a perfectly reformed body, lots of money and new friends, and access to international travel and new technology. However, I won't be able to continue my work. I went to my Homestead email server and marked all the offending emails as spam, hoping that this would put an end to future emails, but this hasn't seemed to stem the tide. Ideas anyone?

SPAMCOP shows Homesteadmail.com as a Blacklisted sender..

I am trying to reach an organization whom I've had previous email communications. As of this afternoon, I am receiving an autoreply from their server stating:

"host lxmail.objectwareinc.com[64.74.115.10] said:
550-"JunkMail rejected - smtp5.homesteadmail.com [209.157.71.85] is in an
RBL, 550 see Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?209.1..."
(in reply to RCPT TO command)"

I suspect this is from the recent email issues we are experiencing??? AND, is this going to be an issue with future and other email servers???

This is potentially a very bad scenario.

Put an ETA on it. Promise people some compensation for lost business. I'm not registering for a new email. I will, however, gladly direct my clients to your customer service to complain repeatedly. :) The problem isn't me. I have protocol for when your stuff stops working (and guess what, it's because this isn't the first time,) so my clients will gladly fill your ears with their cries. AND, if I lose enough business, I'll expect compensation since I'm not even given an ETA on a fix. I expect others would happily join in.

2-3 days minimum is not an ETA. Fixed by Friday at 3pm would be an ETA. Could you please supply an actual ETA. If that is impossible, my guess is that this issue is not being fixed because you don't know how to or can't afford to. Which is it?

I am already on a different email provider (MX redirect). However, because some (or all) of Homestead's IP addresses are blacklisted, I can't receive any emails. I understand your email system is not working properly, but can you get your IP addresses white-listed? Here's what I received from my email service provider:

"As discussed over the phone, it seems that some of the IP addresses used by homesteadmail.com are being blacklisted by SpamCop, which is the reason why you are not reciving emails. From what I could see, most of their IP (if not all) are being blocked. They can do a white-listing request here: http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml

Note that once Spamcop confirms that the white-listing is done, it can take up to an hour to update on our end."

I think this may be a separate issue from the email system not working...

Hi Stanley4980, If you have changed your MX records then your email are going through that companies email server, which would of course have a completely different IP address. If you are having trouble receiving emails, you'll have to contact your provider.
Photo of Stanley4980

I have already done that. That's when they told me that Homestead's IP addresses (from whence the emails come when sent to my email address) was blacklisted by SpamCop. I need HOMESTEAD to please get your IP addresses white listed. BTW, my provider's tech support told me that more than 25,000 emails have been blocked from Homestead in just 24 hours because of this (of course not all mine - mine are probably about 50 emails in that period).

It is quite possible that the blacklist issue will prevent you from receiving email from some Homestead customers. We are already working on the blacklist issues, but other than that, we don't have any control of your email service if it's hosted on another server at a different company.
