I have a client that has his domain name with Wix.  He does not want to do an actual transfer so I am trying to do a domain point to the site I created in Homestead.  How do I go about this?  I have access to Wix DNS records and nameservers but am unsure what I need to change.  I am used to doing with GoDaddy as the registrar, not Wix. Please advise, thank you.

You want to transfer your Homestead website to Wix? Homestead will not run on a Wix server.

I want to point a Wix domain name, to my Homestead website.  Wix is the registrar, so in my mind it's just like GoDaddy or Host Gator being the registrar :)

Do they have email addresses at the domain? If not I would change the nameservers to ns1.mdnsservice.com, ns2.mdnsservice.com and ns3.mdnsservice.com. You can either tell me the domain name and the site it should be pointed to, or you can go to the domains tab in your account and Use a domain you already own.

I tried doing that, just like I have done 100 times with GoDaddy and I got an error message that said something like "Error, can not use host name where cname was used" or something like that.  I would keep trying to figure it out, but I know just enough to be dangerous.  I know how to change nameservers to the ones you listed and that's about it when it comes to DNS records :(     I am completely stumped at this point.  The whole thing would be a complete breeze if I could just transfer the domain over to me, then create his own Homestead account and transfer everything to him then.

I am thinking I need to also change the "Host Name" and IP address, but I don't know where to find that in Homestead with a domain I don't already own or have pointed in here.

If you change the nameservers we can set the DNS for you. You would not need to edit those manually. But if they have email you don't want to do that.

Ok, so on the nameservers, what is the host name?  Do I leave that alone and just change the "points to?"  That is what I tried to do when I got that error message.

There is no host name when you change nameservers. There should just be a place to enter the servers I provided.

Yeah, I totally understand what you're saying, that's how it is when I do it with GoDaddy.  That is exactly what I did when I started and got that stupid error message.  I really, really, really dislike Wix.

What is the site name on our side? I am not familiar enough with Wix to know exactly where the nameservers are located, but I can give you the DNS records you need.

The site on this side is http://besthomeimprovement.homesteadcloud.com/ and I am trying to point it to http://www.pabesthomeimprovement.com   :)

Ok, so put 3 A records on the domain. The hosts are @, www, and *. All 3 point to 146.148.102.201. If there are any A records or CNAMEs using those host names, remove them. That should do it.

Thanks, but it won't let me do that.  I can't name the "host" name anything other than what it comes up as, (the domain name), it won't let me.  Now, it is also telling me the nameservers can not be edited.  I have no idea what is going on with these people.  I guess I will have to contact them and see what they tell me.  Thank you for your time.

You can just leave the domain name then. Are you able to add a new record? with hosts of * and www

I am not, when I add a new record, the host automatically comes up the domain name and it won't let me change it :(   They are not easy to work with at all

Sounds like it. I would ask them if you can change nameservers first, but whatever they can do, we need out records in there somehow.
