I have a domain/website with GoDaddy, it is shallowcreek.org. I have a domain/website with Homestead, and want to keep it. I want to add the website from GoDaddy to my Homestead account--still having two websites though. How do I do this ?

Hello,

To clarify, do you want to transfer your domain name to Homestead and still connect to Go-daddy for the website? Homestead can only accept transferred domains but cannot move website files over.

I want to transfer it to Homestead so I can say goodbye to GoDaddy...

We can move the domain name to Homestead but cannot move a website built elsewhere into our system, sorry. It will need to be rebuilt in our software.

Cool, not too worried about the website, I can rebuild it. So how do I add the domain name to my account without disturbing the domain/website I have now ?

Awesome. You will need to contact godaddy to release the domain for transfer, then use the instructions in this article to initiate the domain move into Homestead. https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/how_do_i_transfer_my_domain_to_homestead.

Just took a look at the article, seems straightforward. I will follow the instructions and see how it goes. I may be back for instructions :)
Thanks for your quick reply !!

I have another question:
The domain transferred, no problem. Now, I want to rebuild that website. How do I get started ?

First go to websites manager, select add new website in the top right. This will create a new website to build on. Then connect the domain to new site you created by changing the site association.

OK,
Followed directions. Now I have a new website, but old site is no longer on internet. Still on Homestead, just doesn't show up any more (404 page). Think I made a mistake with changing site association, not sure how to fix it.

I got that fixed using these instructions https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/fixing-the-website-builder-404-error. Both look good now.
