I chose the design for the website and uploaded the main image I want displayed on the index page. But it cycles through that pic and several others that came preloaded into the design. How do I get it to stop this and just leave the pic I want?

This is a photo gallery element set up for this purpose, but it can be changed. First click on the gallery, then on more and advanced. On the right, click settings, then gallery transitions. Set the interval at the bottom to zero.
You might want to also remove the additional images from the gallery. Click on manage gallery and deslect the extra images. You can have a gallery with just one image.
