I can't find my new website on an internet search. Why? www.marylougoertzenartwork.com I can type the name in the address bar and it works but a google or bing search doesn't find it.

Does it take time for the browsers to recognize a new website?  I thought typing in the whole name would show up.

It takes time for search engines to find new sites. They don't just appear in searches immediately. You can speed it up by asking search engines to index the site. Google and Bing both have Webmaster tools accounts that can get you indexed more quickly, but it will happen naturally as well.
