Are you using SB+, desktop or the new webbuilder program? What kind of problem do you have?

I am using the web based Sitebuilder Plus.  When i try to insert an image, all I get is an error message, saying the problem is due to a server problem.

Have you tried a "refresh"?
F5 = Refresh. If that doesn't work, use Shft/Ctrl/Delete.
Using this procedure intermittently provides solutions to cache and cookie related interference. A browser works by downloading a page to your computer. Browsers will then show the page from your computer as opposed to downloading it every time you visit the page. This speeds up the process and lessens the traffic on the Internet. Depending on the browser, it will periodically check the website for a new version of the page and download it if it has changed. If you don't see a change that you expect, then press F5. That tells the browser to go to the site and download the page now.

I have cleared my cookies and my cache.  I did not try to refresh, but I will.  I have not been able to load a picture all day.  Very disappointing since I am paying extra for a site that does not work as promised.  And it is December.  And *supposedly* my busiest time of the year.

I'm having no problems loading pics. Do you have enough storage capacity? Some plans have limits you know.

I am happy you are not having problems.  I will have to wait until Monday.  My plan has enough storage, thanks.

Nancy, have you tried uploading the image direct to the file manager and then import if from the file manager onto the page... this seems to work most times when this problem crops up..

Brian, Is there any way to view the file manager in thumbnails rather than just their image number? I will try this, but it will be difficult to get the right file without being able to actually see it. Please and thanks?

NOW that is spooky, I have just finished posting the very same information to someone else looking for a missing picture... answer is, Yes you can. In file manager look at the top and you will see a little icon to change the view to gallery option. then you will see small thumbnails of file and pictures.

Awesome.  Thanks!  I really wanted to just work on my website and post pictures as I always had, but I guess I will spend a large portion of my day learning the back door shortcuts to the Sitebuilder program.

I am glad to hear you were able to get this resolved, and I do apologize we were not in office to answer this sooner. There is a known issue with a recent update with Firefox that is causing issues with uploading, is that the browser you are using?

Similar problems here.  My very established web site won't allow previews of my photos in the file, so photos that have been renamed or deleted on the page still cannot be deleted in the file.  Any new photo listed is given the old address and can't be used.  No one at HS has helped and there is no phone number, even though it says under help we can call.  I'm losing thousands of dollars every week and I'm ready to cancel and build another site with another provider.  Some of us aren't geeks you know, HELP!

HI Dave, The Homestead guys will be jn here Thursday morning USA time or, again Thursday you could try customer service 800-710-1998. I kind of lost your explanation.. I get for some reason you cannot preview you pics in File Manager but
"Any new photo listed is given the old address and can't be used".  Lost me a bit, sorry. I can offer two suggestions, first try using a different browser to log in with, see if that helps and secondly, in file manager, look to the top and there is a small drop down box where you can choose Gallery View... this will show all you files and picks as thumbnails to help you identify the photos you want... Hope this helped.

I had a similar problem last couple of years in December.  Totally laggy, terrible site responsiveness.  Things did get better in January, but that was after I needed it to get better.

I too continue to be unable to publish either photos or text without the oops box. Try Chrome, allow pop ups, pressing alt, shift, control, sit back and wait!
Not very stisfactory is it?
Any other sufferers out there?
Love to hear any solution you have found. Homestead is infuriating, a few months smooth running then chaos again

I experience the same frustration, Audrey.  To be fair, however, it's not just Homestead that I see these kinds of issues with.  I honestly think it's more a browser issue than it is a Homestead issue.  I don't know which browser you're using when you have trouble, but for me, it's virtually always Safari.  Safari is good with probably 95% of websites, and for the other 5%, there's stuff it just can't do.  When I run into oe of those situations, including as it pertains to Homestead, I switch to Firefox and that usually resolves the issue.  Very simple.

Audrey1969, I see a number of pages that show as unpublished, but no images. All that are there are published. Would you like for me to publish them to see if it works? I will say that your site is extremely large. Sitebuilder Plus was designed for sites of 100 pages or less. You have over 1500 pages and over 4000 files. Do you remove unused images from file manager to help reduce the files. We do have some people that are able to work on very large sites, but the possibility of issues rises dramatically. I have done a couple things that may help. Clear your browser history before logging in.

Let me know if you want me to try publishing the pages and check for errors.

I would be grateful for Anything you could do . For my part, I will delete some of the older pages and all of Sleepylagoons.I do delete old photos now but probably neglected to do so in past..I have had so much pleasure doing this site over the years and get so frustrated when these problems arise. Is there any way of deleting images other than individually. I was thinking that even if I delete Sleepylagoons, I will still leave behind many unwanted images. Thanks

The sleepylagoons are actually different sites and while you can delete them, they will not alter the performance of the other site.

I am going to publish and see what happens

Audrey, it is behaving like it is the size. I did not get an error, but it did not publish. I did go to the file manager and published from there. It isn't perfect, but you can sort by pages that need to be published. Then you can hold shift down and click on the first and last file and it will tag all. Then publish. Try that for now.

I have been ill so haven't been doing much. Can you expand on what you say above?
I go to file manager select the file I want to publish
But then you lose me. Do you mean where you want to publish more than one page at once?
When I am feeling better and start deleting the older pages, Will that reduce the load if I am unable to delete all the images at same time?
I cannot do it by date in file manager and would have to delete the many images on many pages.
In brief, will just deleting pages help and do images as and when I can?
Thanks Drew

Hi Audrey
See if this helps
This is my file manager.

If you click on the picture it will enlarge so you can see it better

In the second pic, icons with the red house is a web page. The page with lines is a text file the small pic is an image file. On the extreme right you can see the status of that page /file/image. In this pic below it is showing one image file that I haven't used on the website yet so it hasn't been published and it has the yellow icon saying publish. If I wanted to publish this file I would click on the file to highlight it, go to the top and click publish. Pages can be published the same way.

If you want to delete a long list, one above another, you can click on the top file, move to the last file in the list you want to delete, hold down the SHIFT KEY before you click on that last file. Then release the SHIFT KEY. This will highlight all the files, as you can see. (Just clicking in an empty space next to the list will clear your selection if you get it wrong)

If you want to select individual files then click on the first file you want to delete, Hold down the CTRL KEY and keep it held down whilst you click on each file to be deleted. Then release the CTRL KEY all the files you chose will be highlighted. Here I have selected just three files.

Once the files you want to remove are highlighted, move to the top of the file manager and click on delete.

Lastly, to help you find certain image files, if you look to the top of the file manager you will see the option "Browse By" its default is List but the drop down menu gives the option to view thumbnails.

If you wanted to delete in this view the Shift Key option does not work, but you can click on name under the first file you want to delete and then, holding the CTRL KEY down, click on the names of the other files you want gone and each name will be highlighted. Then release the CTRL key.. then delete.

Deleting the page doesn't remove the files on that page from the file manager.( As far as I know, never checked it)

One word of warning, once deleted they are almost impossible to retrieve. IF you make a mistake... Shut the programme down, don't do anything else on the website and post a message here for Drew or Todd... Sometimes they can perform miracles and get the files back.   Hope that above helped a little.. :)

Brian how kind of you to go to so much trouble to help me.
I am still unable to work on computer for very long but as son as I am bright eyed etc, I will work through what you advise. It will be a long job with so many pages but worth it if it solves my current publishing problems.I have copied to Word so I have it by me

Deleting pages will help, but deleting corresponding files that are no longer in use will also help. If you manage to remove more than you add, then things should begin to improve slowly. If you can;t work for long, no matter. If the total site begins to decline in size things should get better.
