We have some reports that data entered into a form on the site is being cut off in the email received. If you believe this has happened to you, please provide the following information:

  1. The URL of the page with the form
  2. The field in the form that you believe was cut off
  3. Copy/paste the contents of the cut off field, or provide a screenshot

Here is one screenshot. I have 50 websites, all with forms, so I am not able to check every form. This one happened recently. I blacked out names and email, but you can see its cut off.

We are having the same issue. We print our forms for people in the field and billing.  And these were not requested changes.  Our event description is cut off.  Here is my example:

I have been made aware of this same issue on our site.  I tracked the change back to April 28th.  The Form worked at 7am and was changed at 5pm.  Perhaps Homestead can simply Undo the change made on that date to the code that handles email of web-forms.
EXAMPLE:

I have tested the form and if I include 600 characters of continual text (No Spaces) the emailed table displays 251 characters and then it is cut off.  The Table being emailed is apparently not Wrapping Text.  Perhaps a Fixed Table Width of 100% (which should match the email application size) and then fix the code to properly Wrap text that does not fit on a single line?

Jennifer2909, It isn't that easy. I just submitted JFK's 1961 inaugural address in a multi line text box. 1384 words and it cam through perfectly. I couldn't fit the whole thing in my screen shot, but you see it worked. Can you tell me what character came immediately after it cut off?

I have checked my forms and they are cutting off at the same point that my customer has typed a ( ') - I have tried it myself and it does it when I fill out the form aswell. Not sure if that helps you!! The below example I typed in the details box - "Hello. my son's party will be ..." and it cut off at the ' I tried other examples and they did the same thing.

neil9743, can you try replying to a message that was cut off and see if you see the missing text there?

I have tried pressing reply on the email I get from homestead and it still shows the cut off message.

Having the same problem. I can see the text if I hit reply though. However, when I do that I have lots of problems with the formatting of the email. Text no longer wraps and goes on in one straight line. I wish they would go back to the same format as they had for the last 8 years I've been using it. Never had a problem with it. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.....

A4610, so the cutoff text is visible if you hit reply on the email notification? Can you forward a cutoff message to support@homesteadsocial.com please. I want to see if we can see it at that point.

Okay. This is a pretty major issue for small companies as you know. The form submissions are the main point of 80% of my websites.

This really needs to be sorted. I appreciate its not your fault, but this has been an issue for a while now. please cancel the change and revert back to the old form until you have a fix in place and fully tested it before bringing it into a live environment. That form on my site is how I make my living and if it's not working it's potentially loosing me customers, ruining my reputation as being reliable and ultimately destroying my livelihood. Really don't want to cancel and go elsewhere as I like homestead and been here a long while, but not at the cost of a business I have spent years building up!! frustrated :-(

I wish there was more testing done when making changes before going live. I don't mind headaches, but we all went through the 3 months of the website not working 1/2 of the time because of the data server switchout, and now this.  Been with homestead for 13+ years, but the last 2 years have been pretty difficult to not want to switch.

I have decided that the information from my forms was not dropped - the "updated" form is not easily readable as I had set it up, so I will be re-writing all of my forms so the client will have more work to do to complete the information I need from them, but I will be able to read it and figure out what they need.

I highly recommend that Homestead review all of the problems that this new "updated" format has created, the amount of time that it is taking to locate where the problems are and how to resolve them. Drew cannot possibly work on every single web site that is having a problem.
Hopefully, this will create a team of "customers" and Homestead "problem solvers" to work together prior to a complete overhaul of the "customers" means of communicating.  Then they will need to contact all of us with the possibility of changes and let us reply to their suggestions of ideas.

It appears that the few that had problems with reading their forms via e-mail were actually the minority and they are now happy but the rest of us will perservere and create better forms and website for our clients.

Ok I think I have sorted it myself. I just deleted the "submit" button and added a new one. seems to be coming through ok now. Still not happy I am paying for a service where the people who take my money each month don't seem to think that changing something on their platform and ruining my business potentially is ok. I will be looking for an alternative in due course. Bad service homestead. let down.

Drew - now that I spent hours on Friday updating almost every form on my website -

PROBLEM 1 - if you go to the website if finally opens after a delay with the page saying "This page can't be reached" and 3 possible reasons - www.StarsForOurTroops.org  I am more frustrated than ever. I had one person contact me concerned that there was a problem with the website.

PROBLEM 2 - The forms that I have been using since 2012 have worked perfectly for the work that I use the website for - which basically is filling in an excel sheet for mailings and for filling in personal messages into cards that are made to go with the mailings.
I basically set up my forms to read like the information page you receive from PayPal with information regarding name, address, etc. in an easy and concise format that is easy to cut and paste as needed.
The new e-mail receiving format makes it exceedingly difficult to copy and paste the information.
If kept as it was, the name, address, and the information responding to these words ran into each other. Using a separate line for each item - Name, Address, Etc, returns a box as shown above from Neil's page and if you try to copy and page - you get the left column of words and the right column.

Please feel free to go to the site and fill out a form so I can print here. I did it with my personal name and address just so the information is filled in correctly.

www.jtswebsites.com is working now. www.kdcustomfloral.com kept giving me errors, so I switched it out to the standard format, not the custom form, and right now that is working. I just havn't checked the other 50 sites. I don't need to go in each form and edit the email address, and then put it back in do I? That's what we did to make www.jtswebsites.com work.

Jonathan, can you try the custom form on kdcustomfloral again? We haven't seen this issue on other sites. I am wondering if it was partially due to something else.
