I had the problem once before, although I had it fixed, I thought, when I got rid of them from google pwd saver. But now it's back with a vengeance.
I am still looking into this. In fact, I have copied out all the passwords saved and intend to remove the google "offer to save" altogether. then I saw this that I had chedcked off -
Automatically sign in to websites using stored credentials. If disabled, you will be asked for confirmation every time before signing in to a website.
So, goggle was automatically interfering with my sign-in process at Homestead. I think I may have downloaded google again recently, which would have meant I reverted back to default settings.
So I have changed that automatic function to OFF so maybe that will help.
By the way, those 2 secure sites I had where the pwrd was being changed by google willy nilly changed into not being accessible when I used the URL to go onto the page. I was informed by Homestead it was not there.
I know this is the same problem I had before. But it is Chrome doing it. And Homestead is not the only site on which I have had problems. But I know with Homestead I stopped storing the various passwords, for log in, and email, and guest book, and also the for protected pages. And yet magically they all appeared again. Now they are gone again! Thanks.
It's done it again. I logged into the computer first time since last night, and had to enter my username and pwd to do it. Fine. By the time i logged off the computer last night I had gotten rid of all the saved passwords in the Chrome setting page under passwords, checking both saved and never saved lists. Both protected pages were working. Tonight, clicking directly on the URL for each, I got the message:
Sorry, the page you’re looking for can’t be found.
You will be redirected to Homestead in 10 seconds.Homestead .
I haven't done anything else yet, except to try one of the other pages that ought not be pwd protected, and I got the same msg, but not from any more, that I have tried yet.
One thing maybe you can find out. Each of my 2 pp-pages have different pwrds, but I dont know what pwd is stated underneath, in the page settings, where it says to enter a pwd if you want it to be protected, A pwrd is there, but in xs. I am curious what is listed as that pwrd.
There appears to be a glitch in the connection somewhere, other than what Chrome is doing to it.
To the left of this conversation I saw this discussion from a year ago, so clicked on it and the problem still seems to exist. A password protect page on my site periodically becomes unavailable.https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/a-password-protect-page-on-my-site-periodically-bec...
What I did, too, was to save the page, check the advanced page settings to make sure some kind of xxxx pwrd was there, and then publish the page. And then did the same for the second page.
It would be great if Homestead looked at this as a software glitch and tried to fix it. I appreciate the fact that just because the pppage is not working that not just anybody can access it, but it is something I would like to have secure and available.
If you have re-log-in, from where do you delete the password. (you said you do). Does this mean you delete it and then create it again, the same pwrd?
I can create a dummy page, but how do you make it unlisted?
I won't be doing this tonight, but I would like to know how to do it. ]
I also didn't understand the part about having to log in again, when time runs out, how you do that?
Time out will occur when your work is inactive. After a time, homestead will time out if you're not working on the site.
The problem is with Homestead, the site editor or something. If this works, with the dummy page, so be it, but Chrome is no longer handling any passwords in Homestead and in fact, has not been for some time. But you know, these glitches happen, and Chrome had taken ahold again.
For a while, everything seemed okay, and then a few weeks ago, I was losing the pp-pages, not able to access them. I still don't know if the dummy page will work. But I will try it.
