We frequently get questions with regard to troubleshooting HTML, CSS code etc. Our SiteBuilder software does provide the ability for users to import their own code but there are some limits to what we are able to troubleshoot. If you need help troubleshooting your own HTML, (or 3rd party code), you are welcome to post here and solicit the help from other community members. We will assist if your issue is specifically SiteBuilder related, but have to limit our involvement in other cases.

Problem with Adding a link.

I am trying to add a link or embed code to an image on my website from an Issuu file. I created a sports magazine and want to allow people to open it from my website. When I put the embed code into the link area, all I get is an error page after I publish it. What should I do?

If everything is published, and you are still getting that error, then make sure all of your files are in the right folders and look for typos on the folder names.

resize html box.

I have a roll-over page displaying the remaining list of our product offerings.
this is an html file; however, on some viewing screens throughout our office, the HTML file appears to go beyond the length of the page while on my PC, pad and laptop, it is perfectly fine.

I want to be able to adjust the length of the html file; however, nothing I do corrects the issue. I want to make sure that the page correctly on all displays.

The SiteBuilder will just do the actual image size. There are ways to do this buy you'll have to write or obtain your own html code and embed it into the page.

That message is a security setting in your browser just prompting your for permission to run the script. Depending on other people security settings they may or may not get that same message. if the links don't work, then the code is corrupt. If you are not familiar with troubleshooting the code, you can solicit help from other community members or I would suggest using a different source for creating the code.

Problem with Pinterest Hover buttons?.

I have done this many times.... I know how to add HTML but, I am looking to do the hover button and the HTML snippet does not work.

here is the website for pinterest widget builder http://business.pinterest.com/widget-...
When you are choosing button types, they give 3 options
1) one image
2) any image
3) Hover image
when you choose the hover image it says
No HTML is required for hover buttons; all you have to do is load the JavaScript listed below. Once you have this installed, images should show a Pin It button when hovered over. (If you're already running pinit.js, just add the data-pin-hover="true" attribute to the existing SCRIPT tag.)

if I add this script that they give me to an HTML box and put it at the bottom of my page, it does not work.

I can see in the source code that the code is there,.... but it will not work. It says to add the script just before the closing tag and when I add the code to the Html editor and place it all the way to the bottom of my page it will not add the code by the closing tag.

Now the clincher........

If I copy and paste the entire source code for the page and add it to an HTML box on a blank page then publish, THE HOVER BUTTONS WORK........

I do not like the way my site looks with all the little pin it buttons all over my photos which I know how to do

Thanks
Amy

This is typically done with custom code/CSS code in most cases. You are welcome to solicit help from other Community members if you wish, but the SiteBuilder does not have a way to easily do this.

You have a lot of 3rd party code which we can not troubleshoot. My advice is to start by removing each html box one at a time, and republishing in between. You'll likely find the source that is causing the conflict this way.

This is generally done with CSS code, but not something that SiteBuilder is capable of doing on it's own.

Can't add a script without encapsulating div's?.

I need to add a script to all the pages of my site - in this case, Google Tag Manager. This script needs to reside between the body tags and will not work if embedded in div tags. From what I can tell, adding a script via Sitebuilder automatically encapsulates it within a set of div tags - which then prevents the Google Tag Manager script from working. Any pointers? Many thanks.

One thing to check for is to make sure all files you've uploaded into the file manager are published. You'll have to manually click on each file and publish them one at a time in the file manager.

Implementing a Basic Jquery Slider.

So I'm trying to add a slider to the top of my page. Now the one I'm using is super basic and should be easy, but it just will not work. I'm used to working with pure html and the interface here is throwing me off. In my header I have links to the css, Jquery and javascript files.

I also have to call the function, but I'm not sure where to put this. I put it into the javascript (onload) box and nothing happens.

(I tried to post my code here but it kept disappearing when I posted it)

Am I putting the function in the right place? Usually I put it at the end of my html along with the scripts, but I cannot access the html of this site so I cannot place them there.
What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to create a a simple header and footer image to take up 100% of the screen like on this website currently where the grey at the bottom takes up the entire screen at all times and the red and yellow bar takes up the entire top of this page at all times. Can anyone help with this? I have tried googling different ways, but none seem to take.

Plug Ins, Widgets, & HTML stuff.

Can someone please help me put a third-party calendar plug-in that'll display properly. The plug-in was created for WPress &/or Joomla. Can it be adapted in Homestead? Ugghhh...

It seems Homestead is limited with social/interactive options. Where's the chat room setups ...

There are literally hundreds of 3rd party widgets that can be put into just about any website. Most calendars are done in the form of an Iframe. If you want to provide more details as to what you are doing and what exactly you are trying to implement, we'll try to help you, or it's possible another customer on this thread may be able to assist also.

XARA ONLINE.

I'm probably still living in the past, but I'm still using the Homestead partner development tool, Xara Online...... for headings, buttons, slide shows and some text presentation. Apparently, Xara online stopped being supported in 2012 .... I need to drop Xara Online from my development tool set and need to find an alternative method of creating headings, slide shows etc. to use in my Homestead developed pages. Can anyone advise....?
Thanks....
