Here’s four tips to help protect your store from fraudulent credit card transactions.

1. Ask questions.

Ask a lot of questions. If you get orders double the average, ask questions. If you get orders from countries you normally wouldn’t, ask questions. If the order looks to be good to be true, it probably is.

2. If an order seems sketchy, contact the customer.

If you suspect an order, try googling the customer's name and details. Or, try calling the client and asking to verify the billing details. You will find out pretty quick which customers are legit.

3. Check for unknown IP addresses.

We provide the IP lookup address for each order. If the credit card address doesn’t match the country they are purchasing from coupled with an unknown IP address, this should be a major red flag.

4. Use a supported payment gateway that verifies Visa and Mastercard transactions.

In BigCommerce, is it possible to select the payment gateway by country? For example, credit cards accepted from countries A, B, C but from X, Y, Z only PayPal?

You can enable different payment methods, but not multiple payment gateways. This post may help:
