Can I ask who plans this during business hours? I do this kind of work around midnight so that I affect as little client use as possible. If you guys did this last night early morning why was I still unable to send or connect to the email server after 9:00am CST?

It's not like this happens at night for me, it's almost any time day OR night. It's getting so very old. You have a new system, it sucks, the old one worked so much better, the old anti-spam system worked better, slap the guy who thought it needed improvement.

I hope somebody lost their job for this, the only implementation I have seen lately that is worse than this one, is the Obamacare website...

This is the email I sent to absent Homestead CEO (sold to Intuit some time ago)
Justin: I don't know if you've got sway with Homestead any more, but the recent month-long epic tech disaster there has been really trying on customers (me and many, many others) but most of all it is baffling why no one from management has been heard from. We're getting kind messages from over-work tech guys but nothing, nada, from anyone in management. Really. Not a word. Are you going to need to go back there a pull Homestead back from the brink like Jobs did?

I was told by Homestead's Hoby today that spam issue could continue for at least another week or two until new spam servers were fully operational. I just don't understand why we are not hearing with some clarity from senior management just what is going on. Feels to me like Homestead is going under...

Hello Mary2495, I realize this is very frustrating. We did however inform everyone a few weeks ago, that the new equipment installed would alleviate most of the spam problems, which it has, and, that over several weeks, there would be improvements. We are still in that window where we are working on the systems. Unfortunately it will take some more time.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSFERRING WEBSITE AND EMAIL ACCOUNTS.

It saddens me to have to leave Homestead, as I have had our website with them for many years. I always knew that I was paying a substantial premium over other web hosts with page builders, etc., but felt that having the financial muscle of Intuit behind it would insure that I wouldn't have any downtime.

Unfortunately, this has not been the case. I have lost (at least) two clients who I have run into in our community who told me they went to other photographers because they never heard back from me on emails they had sent requesting specific appointment dates. Each of these particular clients took years to nurture and were worth many thousands of dollars per year (EVERY YEAR) in business.

Bottom line--I haven't seen one post on this thread that tells me definitively when I will have the same email service back that I had two months ago. I need auto-forwarding to work flawlessly. The last time I wrote on this thread about this issue, I was told it was a Comcast problem. After spending over an hour with Comcast on the phone, they have referred me back to Homestead, as they have made no changes in their system and can't find any reason why your emails are sporadically forwarded to my Comcast account.

Being a marketing consultant for many decades, I think the saddest thing about this entire debacle is that no one (or at least I) wasn't warned that you were going to start playing around with your servers and that this could cause problems. Mistakes are understandable--this lack of honesty on the part of the "higher ups" at Homestead is unforgivable.

Now that I have vented, I need to know the following:

1. Do you have a post explaining exactly (for a total novice) how to transfer my Homestead site to another company? If so, please provide a link to this information.

2. Do you have a post explaining exactly (again, for a total novice) how to transfer my existing email account names with Homestead to another vendor, making sure that the auto-forwarding from my now-Homestead email accounts works flawlessly in interfacing with Comcast?

3. Have any of the other frustrated Homestead users who are in my situation, having no other than to leave Homestead to survive, found a web hosting company that has an easy migration path from Homestead?

Thank you in advance to all of you reading this thread for any guidance you can offer me.

We are very sorry to see you go, but understand the decision you have to make. Below are some threads to assist you with your 3 questions.

If you are using a Homestead template with Homesteads images you will also want to review this page. https://www.homestead.com/legal/image...

2. You can export the contents from your email accounts by logging into the Zimbra web page at https://mail.homesteadmail.com/zimbra/
When logged in, click Preferences, and look for the export link on the left side. This screen will give you an option to export your email files, calendar, and contacts, in a .tgz format which is a type of zip file. You'll want to make sure the new provider can accept this file type. Or, if you wish you could manually forward any emails to another account.

You will need to complete a domain transfer before you can re-create your email addresses at the other company. https://community.homestead.com/homes...

3. Due to every hosting company having their own unique systems and proprietary sitebuilder software, transferring a site is often a challenge. It doesn't matter if you are transferring from Homestead, or to Homestead. You will likely run into obstacles or find features in your site that no longer work due to processes dependent on the server, or lack of compatibility between website editors. The easiest thing is to just move the email buy changing some dns records and leaving the site alone.

I just finished with Tech Support at Comcast. Here is his response after I manually forwarded emails to Comcast.net and Gmail accounts they have set up for testing:

"Just letting you know that all these messages are coming through to my Comcast inbox.....so if you having issues sending from your domain to comcast it may be a blacklisting problem......and that would be something you hosting company would need to resolve as far as de-listing from the blacklists."

So now it's back in your court, Mike. What do we do to get things back the way they were?

Are you by any chance still having this problem today? A couple days ago, the identified something in the filter that was queuing up some emails addressed to Comcast, but it was fixed and the emails were released and delivered.

If you are still having this issue, post the specifics here: sent from address, time/date, sent to address, etc.

Well, to date I have won an unreal amount of about 1 billion according to the spam I have received this week if you add them all up. That's more spam in one week than I got in over 11 years of doing business with Homestead. This doesn't include all the different ways I can enhance myself, or get the girl of my dreams by saying that special thing that all women respond to.... 0_o

Mike, I feel for you, I do, I'm just venting because I realize no matter what is said here, management is going to do what they're going to do. It's like they chose a wrong path and then had a meeting to continue on that wrong path... maybe they want to lose customers, is that a profitable business plan I am unaware of? Rhetorical question, tell management thanks, great job...

it has now been about 10 days since we have had any issues. Many email addresses are running fine, even IMAP ones.

I hope that it encourages those still affected that it will get better once all the issues are known. I was within hours of switching the next morning, and when I came to work, everything was working fine and has since.

We are definitely past the worst of this. Late yesterday they did make some very successful adjustments to the spam filter and that may be the reason. As of now, sending and receiving is working very well and the best it has in several weeks. If you do notice any other strange issues, or error messages please let us know.

When possible post the email, or error messages here including the header that shows the time and date.

Hi Dee Dee0596, Over the last 3-4 days, how many pieces of spam are you getting? We have been monitoring the overall volume and there was a drastic reduction since the most recent adjustments last week.

Can you tell me if its the same emails coming repeatedly, or is it more random?

For the first time in weeks I have gone 1 day with no spam, it's getting there... slowly but surely, also no sending errors for 1 day now and auto-complete for names is much faster as well.

I really don't understand what's going on. When others on here are saying they are having problems, I am not always experiencing the same problems. Their spam may be up and mine may be way down. When others say things are great, mine are not! I am getting more spam today than I've received yet. I am even getting emails from my own domain music-n-motion.net. The email address it supposedly came from is docs8@music-n-motion.net. We have no such email. When this first began over a month ago, I was even receiving emails from myself that were junk mail with links for me to click. This one today says its from an administrator and has a zip file attached which obviously I will not open.
Again, it came from my own email address. Changing passwords has not stopped this. Here is the header:

I've received a lot of junk today and I can not get outlook to even send my emails out for me now because it says it can not contact my server. I have no idea what emails I'm not receiving, but last Friday, I received about 2 dozen emails that were sent to me on the previous Tuesday!

Everyone is saying things are looking great but not here!

Hi Donna6063, It sounds like you have a different issue. As a whole, our email system is performing very well right now. It sounds like you have a unique situation where your email address is being "spoofed". Visit this page to see what "spoofing" is: http://eleccomm.ieee.org/header-spoof...

We are still doing some fine tuning on the new spam filter so these things should subside over the coming weeks.

I moved to this e-mail years ago when the amount of spam was intolerable in my msn account. At least there the spam goes to the junk folder where I can dump it with one click. Now Homestead has more spam than MSN and none of it makes it to the spam folder without my action. Very tedious to have to constantly move spam out of my way. Please keep working on this as you do not have it right yet.

Just want to comment, hopefully to aid in the de-bugging you guys are working hard to deal with. --- Junk mail is finally slowing down, and I now appear to be receiving all e-mail... But, mail received is always dated about one half hour earlier than actually received! Some in response to mail sent less than five minutes prior! Very strange!

Things appear to be working much better but did have a customer who wrote us on the 14th that just told us he never got a response from us even though we wrote him back the same day. I was thinking our emails last week were going thru okay but apparently not. No telling how many customers have not received replies and think we have horrible customer service, something we pride ourselves on. Sure hope that has been remedied.

I guess the forwarding feature is still not working? I have it set to forward Zimbra emails to my gmail address so I can see business emails when they come in and because I like having a duplicate, but the emails are still not being forwarded to my private email account. Any idea when that feature will be working again? Thanks.

I do have it set up and it's not working properly. None of our "notification of payments" for orders are coming thru but some of the personal customer emails come through.

Hello I filled but the info for the website and have never had a chance for a free trail because I could not get my dominan name filled out until just know. After setting up the site I tried numorus times to access my website to know avail .

Hi Steven2603, I think you may have posted in the wrong thread. Is this related to an email issue? I just took a look at your account and see that it is past one year. You've already received the first year free. The account is 368 days old as of today. To continue, you'll have to add a credit card to the account.

If you are forwarding email, please log in at http://mail.homesteadmail.com and check there. Make sure in the forwarding preference you uncheck the box that says Don't leave a copy on the server. Let me know and I will send an email to Info@careonerental.com.

The E-mail are not there AT ALL on Info@careonerental.com, so it is NOT a forwarding problem. If it is a forwarding problem, i will need to see the E-mail first on Info@careonrental.com

Do you have forwarding set up? If so, there is a check box under the forwarding address that says Don't save a copy on the server. Make sure that is unchecked. If it is already unchecked, can I have your permission to change the password and log in to the email for testing?

Yes please I give you the permission to change it, i just want the issue be fixed, I do want to keep a copy in the Info@careonerental.com as a back up just in case something happens to my G-mail address. Just let me know because my E-mail information is limited.

Your email box is full. You will need to empty the trash to open up some space. You can also delete other messages if you like. Remember to empty the trash when you have finished deleting.

You will need to go to the email manager to reset your password.

turned off Zimbra's 'delete copy of email' when forwarding so just sent a test email from my yahoo account and it shows up but the challenge is in fowarding. Seem at least for this account it has not been forwarding messages for last 10 hours

Ok, The issue could be our outgoing spam filter or the filter of the receiving email. Can you try to send a new mail from Zimbra to the forwarded email. That will tell us if it is only forwarded messages.

The sending email issue some of you were experiencing today should be resolved. A new server was brought online yesterday and received requests prematurely. The issue has been corrected and mail that was sent earlier should be delivered.

Things seems to be better for a while, but this morning got about 25 spam messages- so another spam server failure? Please advise, if this has happened a second time I will probably have no choice but to move email and web to someone that is more stable - my business depends on email service!
