In order to locate certain program files you will need to show folders that may be hidden. For Vista and Windows 7, Windows 8 users, the SiteBuilder program installs to the Program Data folder. By default, this folder is hidden.

Follow these steps to show all hidden folders

  1. Click Start in the lower left corner of your computer desktop.

  2. Click Computer.

  3. In the top left corner, click Organize.

  4. From the drop down, click Folder and search options.

  5. Click the View tab.

  6. Within the Advanced Settings, select the Show hidden files, folders and drives radio button.

  7. Click OK.

Hi Kelly9059,

What are you trying to do?  You're using the online Sitebuilder and don't need to view the hidden folders.

Joshua2161,

In windows 8, click on Windows Explorer and you'll find the C drive along the left side of the explorer Window. I can't tell you exactly what it will look like, because different computer makers may have different conventions.

Go to the View tab, and then options and you can show the hidden files and folders under the View tab again

Hi! I've followed the instructions below for Windows 7, but I still can't see or find the Homestead files. I want to make a backup of my website, but I'm stuck. If anyone has time to help me solve this problem I'd be very grateful. Thank you.

Windows 7
  1. Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.
  2. Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.
  3. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.

You can download a site archive from your account if these instructions are not working on your computer. You would simply need to log in to homestead.com and go under Websites Manager. Choose the site you want to archive, click More and Create a Downloadable Site Archive. Once it is created, it will give you the option to download it.

Thank you very much, Elyzabeth. I followed your advice and it worked seamlessly.

Since I update my website daily, do you have a suggestion how to keep the backup updated without having to copy the entire site?

Much appreciated and Happy Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately the archive will only backup the whole site.
