Hi,

Here are instructions to re-install the SiteBuilder desktop.

Note: SiteBuilder desktop is the version older accounts used. You'd only need these instructions if you downloaded SiteBuilder to your computer.

  1. Open up a web browser.

  2. Click SiteBuilder Desktop Setup and save the installation file to your computer.

  3. Once the download is complete, double-click the file to start the application.

  4. Click Next to begin installation and follow the instructions to install the Program.

  5. Click the Finish button and the SiteBuilder program will begin to load.

Hope that helps,

Glad to find this answer in Help. I too prefer the SiteBuilder Desktop version over the browser-based Plus version. The Desktop version is so much easier to use and helps me line up images and text easier and more accurately!

c0140 it sounds like you are commenting on the grid that looks like a checker board. That feature is also available in the Plus version. You can turn it on and off, so if you aren't seeing it, you probably have it turned off. Although the (personal widgets (hit counters, weather widgets etc.) were removed from the Plus version, the Plus version actually has more functionality than the desktop version. Because of the cleaner redesign of the application, most people assume that more features were removed. If you need help finding something in the Plus version, let us know.
How do I download the 2010 version of the website builder to a new computer? I need to do this, I believe, to access a font that isn't offered on the post-2010 Intuit website builder(s).

HI Yanna - Please try the steps above. If you continue to have problems, what operating system are you on? SItebuilder Desktop does not work with Windows 8, unfortunately.

Please let us know if you're interested in upgrading to Sitebuilder Plus for free. It's browser based, so you won't have any issues with installation.

Thanks,
Aubrey

Hi ARMAND -

Thanks for writing in! Please check out the steps above on how to download Sitebuilder Desktop. Keep in mind that Sitebuilder Desktop unfortunately is not compatible with Windows 8.

You are more than welcome to upgrade to the browser-based Sitebuilder Plus. Please let me know if you're interested in that.

Thanks,
Aubrey

Hello and welcome to Homestead Websites chat support! Give me just a moment to take a look at that for you.

[Sharanya S.] Your editor is set to sitebuilder plus an online version with more advanced features. It is a new online version. To work on your site moving forward, just log into your website account and go to your website manager tab on the left. Next, you will see a blue button to edit site, which will open up SiteBuilder Plus.

[oneacredeserthomestead] I am not online often and do not want to have to use an online editer.

[Sharanya S.] Do you wish me to change the editor to work with your sitebuilder desktop? But make sure that the template that you selected in sitebuilder plus may not be compatible with sitebuilder desktop.

[oneacredeserthomestead] I am not using a template.

[oneacredeserthomestead] it would be great if that could be changed. I was not aware we had to chose one or the other.

[oneacredeserthomestead] I'm not too sure I'm liking Homestead so far.

[Sharanya S.]
Please be on hold while I look into it get back to you in 2-3 minutes .

[oneacredeserthomestead] ok

Please wait for the next available web advisor.
[Matt B] Hello and welcome to Homestead Websites chat support! Give me just a moment to take a look at that for you.

[Matt B] I’m very sorry for the wait this afternoon.

[oneacredeserthomestead] ok

[Matt B] You can't use the desktop version of SiteBuilder onthis account.

[oneacredeserthomestead] what type of account can I use it on?

[Matt B] An old account.

[oneacredeserthomestead] No new account can use the desktop version?

[Matt B] That's correct

[oneacredeserthomestead] I live in the middle of no where on solar power, I cannot keep my modem running the whole time I work on the website

[Matt B] And we will be migrating all desktop users to the online version in the coming months

[oneacredeserthomestead] oh, ok. That was simple. How do I cancel the account?

[Matt B] If you click on Account in the top right corner, then select Account summary

[Matt B] At the bottom righ corner of that page there is a "Cancel all services" link

[oneacredeserthomestead] You may want to let your clients know about this. I know of 3 people who pay you guys each month for their sites who will no longer be doing so if they have to be online to work on them.

[oneacredeserthomestead] thank you.

[Matt B] You're welcome. Don't worry emails will be sent

[Matt B] We won't just do it.

I am really disappointed that Homestead won't listen to those of us who prefer the older desktop to their new on-line version. They seem to think it is better. I disagree and if I can not continue with a desktop version I will find a suitable replacement somewhere else. And i will move my hosted accounts to another provider. If they no longer want to listen to me, then they no longer want my business -- after SEVEN years of giving them my business I will be leaving...

We would be sorry to see you go. We do appreciate the time you have been with us. I don't believe that you will find a host that will provide a downloaded sitebuilder program any longer. You would have to buy a 3rd party software package such as Adobe Dreamweaver to be able to build offline. If that is the case, then you can use virtually any host, including us. You would just upload the files through Sitebuilder Plus' file manager.

If you uninstall and reinstall the software and it still does not work, then the next step is to perform a clean install, which is the process of removing the old SiteBuilder files from your computer. Follow the instructions here if the regular re-installation does not work. https://community.homestead.com/homes...

If the SiteBuilder won't download updates, there could be something like security software blocking the download. Another option is to uninstall the software and re-download it like shown in this thread.

From what I read here I just might be able to follow direction and reload my site. I don't care for the process where you have to log into Homestead. It appears that they forgot who pays their bills and salary.
