I currently have a domain hosted at GoDaddy. How can I point it over to the site I built with Homestead?

Hi,

If you've already paid for a domain (website address) with Go Daddy, you can "point" the domain to your Homestead website. Make sure you have the username/Customer # and password for your Go Daddy account. Pointing a domain typically takes 1-3 business days to complete, depending on the speed of your domain provider.

Important: If you have email with Go Daddy and want to keep your email with them, you'll need to complete a CNAME Point.

To point a domain from Go Daddy

  1. Log in to Go Daddy using your username and password.

  2. Click My Account in the upper right corner.

  3. In the Products tab, click the plus sign to the left of DOMAINS.

  4. In the list of domains, click Launch for the domain you'd like to point to Homestead.

  5. In the Nameservers area, click Set Nameservers.

  6. In the Set Nameservers window, select I have specific nameservers for my domains.

  7. Add our Nameservers. Go Daddy provides space to enter up to 4 Nameservers in this window. You only need to enter 3 and it doesn't matter what order they are entered in. Then, click OK.

  • Nameserver 1 - NS1.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Nameserver 2 - NS2.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Nameserver 3 - NS3.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Back in Homestead Websites, select the site that you want to point the domain to from the drop-down.

  • Note: You can have more than one domain pointed or associated (registered) with a website.

  • Click Domains on the left to go to Domain Manager.

  • Under Use a Domain You Already Own, enter your domain and click Use This Domain.

  • Click Keep Current Provider.

  • Under Task 1, click I Have Added Nameservers.

  • The point will complete in 1-3 business days depending on the speed of your domain provider

    Hope that helps!

I can add the .co.uk domain to your account. What is the domain you are pointing to us?

You have a pointed domain already associated to the site on this account. Go to the domain in your browser and see if it brings up the site. If you have an additional domain, please provide the name.

I have pointed my site to my domain at GoDaddy by changing name servers, but I keep getting a 404 error on the page. I called GoDaddy customer support and they said all is well on their end and to try and contact Homestead... Please help!
