Hi,

If you've already paid for a domain (website address) with Go Daddy, you can "point" the domain to your Homestead website. Make sure you have the username/Customer # and password for your Go Daddy account. Pointing a domain typically takes 1-3 business days to complete, depending on the speed of your domain provider.

Important: If you have email with Go Daddy and want to keep your email with them, you'll need to complete a CNAME Point.

To point a domain from Go Daddy

  1. Log in to Go Daddy using your username and password.

  2. Click My Account in the upper right corner.

  3. In the Products tab, click the plus sign to the left of DOMAINS.

  4. In the list of domains, click Launch for the domain you'd like to point to Homestead.

  5. In the Nameservers area, click Set Nameservers.

  6. In the Set Nameservers window, select I have specific nameservers for my domains.

  7. Add our Nameservers. Go Daddy provides space to enter up to 4 Nameservers in this window. You only need to enter 3 and it doesn't matter what order they are entered in. Then, click OK.

  • Nameserver 1 - NS1.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Nameserver 2 - NS2.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Nameserver 3 - NS3.MDNSSERVICE.COM

  • Back in Homestead Websites, select the site that you want to point the domain to from the drop-down.

  • Note: You can have more than one domain pointed or associated (registered) with a website.

  • Click Domains on the left to go to Domain Manager.

  • Under Use a Domain You Already Own, enter your domain and click Use This Domain.

  • Click Keep Current Provider.

  • Under Task 1, click I Have Added Nameservers.

  • The point will complete in 1-3 business days depending on the speed of your domain provider

    Hope that helps!

You have a pointed domain already associated to the site on this account. Go to the domain in your browser and see if it brings up the site. If you have an additional domain, please provide the name.

This will be the third attempt to getting this resolved. I purchased my domain with Godaddy.com that I wanted to host with Homestead (might've been a big mistake since I'm having so much trouble pointing my domain). Homestead Support sends me a link with instructions to follow.. unlock domain with godaddy, remove privacy, get authorization, etc. DONE! Came back to Homestead to perform a few more steps. COmpleted building my website. Clicked 'PUBLISH' and thought I was done. COntacted Homestead again and asked Support to look and see if I did everything correctly. He sends me another instruction link and tells me he cant help me. Must contact Godaddy to properly point my domain. Called Godaddy Support. He tells me I need to get a URL or IP address or Cname to point the domain to.
I only want to point my domain to Homestead and not transfer it. What EXACTLY needs to be done to get my website published??? Ive already created my full site. Just get it published so my clients can view, PLEASE!

    Frustrated!

    Hi Nancy -

I'm so sorry about you frustrations - I completely understand. It sounds like you were directed to initiate "Transferring" your domain to Homestead, which is not what you wanted to do. The second time around, they had you set up "pointing" from GoDaddy's end which is the correct way. Please check out the instructions above, as it details what steps you need to take. Your nameservers have not yet been changed to Homestead, but once they are your domain will work within 12 hours.

    Thanks,
    Aubrey

Hi! I need to know the steps to point my current domain name (www.davieconcrete.com) established (parked) with a third party to the web pages I created through Sitebuilder. I would also like to host the email with the same extension with you as well. If you can provide me with the instruction, I will work with the current provider to get the appropriate servers added to this registration. Thanks in advance. David B [dbrosnah@yahoo.com]

    Hi dbrosnah1932,

Have the current host add the nameservers shown in step #7, then log into your account on www.homestead.com and do steps 8-12.

After the domain pointing is complete, then you'll be able to create the email accounts. Follow this thread for email setup: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

        ns23.westgroup.net
        ns21.westgroup.net
        ns22.westgroup.net

Unless you are doing a Cname point, you'll want to change the nameservers to:

    •  NS3.MDNSSERVICE.COM

If you purchased a ".me" domain name you will have to point it to Homestead. You can use the steps above as a guide. You'll have to add the nameservers shown in step #7 at your current host, then complete steps 8-12 on the Homestead website.

I am trying to configure the DNS properly for my buddy that I did their website for here on homestead, but they own the domain on Go Daddy. They have their own exchange host in the office, and currenty host their website and email. I want them to keep their email but have the go daddy account point to the website. However, when I did this, I made their email stop working. I was told NOT to change the nameservers and only change the follow. What am I doing wrong? I whited out some of the information.

    A Record
    Host @ points to 209.157.71.50
(I replaced the existing @ with this IP)

    A Record
    Host * points to 209.157.71.50
(I added this to the A Record)

C Name www points to websites.homestead.com
(I deleted the A record that was www and made a CNAME with this)

If they tried to verify shortly after pionting the domain, it was probably just a matter of not allowing enough time for the dns records to propagate. That can sometimes take up to 48 hours.

The DNS on the Godaddy side still shows Godaddy's nameservers and the A and CNAME records are not ours. Either it has not been changed, or something is wrong on the Godaddy side.

If you look at Step #9, this is where you can start your domain pointing. You do not need to point the nameservers, instead, this is the DNS to Homestead.

katyadams6133859 I have fixed custombuiltnewengland.com for you. newenglandrenovations.com is now associated to the Arlingtonstreet site, which has not been published. If there is to be only 1 site, should newenglandrenovations.com be redirected to custombuiltnewengland.com? I can make that work, but with the new Websitebuilder you may only associate 1 domain to a site.
