Optimizing your store (and website) is probably one of the most important things for gaining customers to your store and ranking highly within the search engines. Basically, there are 7 steps by which you'll set up your store for the best possible situation SEO-wise without hiring an SEO firm.

If you don't have the time or desire to do this on your own, contact a Homestead web advisor, and we can connect you with a search engine specialist.

Expectations: The SEO Timeline

Performing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) takes time, persistence and skill. Unfortunately, the web is saturated with websites for businesses just like yours. No one achieves great results over night and sometimes it takes several months for a new SEO campaign to gain momentum. The fact is, search engines give higher ranking priority to sites that are older. In a nut shell, older websites tend to have had more traffic, thus they have more authority than a newer site. There are many more factors to consider, but that is the basis of why a new website can’t rank overnight. With that said, age isn’t everything. Many older sites have terrible rankings because they do not employ many basic onsite SEO techniques. Search engines rank sites following a very intricate algorithm that considers many factors such as; age, site structure, content, popularity, etc. Therefore, a newer website that is properly optimized can easily surpass an archaic website in search engine rankings by employing SEO techniques.

SEO is an investment. It is a long and intricate process and the results are almost never felt instantly. However, when done right and consistently, it will bring very rewarding results. If you have an e-commerce business, you should have a budget for SEO marketing. The more traffic you drive to your website the more sales you will make.

The graph below provides a breakdown of the activities and expectations that can be expected from your SEO campaign. This timeline is based on the actual SEO results across an array of our clients’ websites. This timeline provides a very honest and realistic point of reference to define the results that can be expected from a consistent and aggressive SEO campaign.
