How do I enable UPS Online Tools as my shipping provider?

Creating Your UPS Profile
If you have not yet created a UPS profile, you will first need to create one at UPS.

1.) Create Login Settings: Enter your name, email, ID and Password (note this information, as you will need it in your Bigcommerce settings). Check the box to acknowledge the UPS Technology Agreement and click Next.


2.) Contact Information: In the next step, enter your additional contact information and select your preferences for UPS communication.


3.) Registration Complete: You will receive a confirmation of your registration, including a confirmation of your UPS User ID.

Adding or Creating your UPS Account
You will need to add an account to your profile in order to get an Access Key in the next step. If you already have one, it can be added here. If you do not yet have an account, skip to step 5 and we will create one. First, while logged in to your UPS profile, navigate to My UPS -> Account Summary


1.) Existing Accounts: If you have a UPS account, it may already be present. If so, you can proceed to generating your Access Key.


2.) Add Existing Account: If your account is not present, click Add an Existing UPS Account.


3.) Add Account Information: Enter your UPS account number, account name, and postal code. Click Next.


4.) Account Added: Once your account is added to your profile you can proceed to generating your Access Key.

5.) New Account: If do not yet have a UPS account, click Open a UPS Account.


6.) Shipping Needs: Fill out some basic company information to outline your Shipping Needs for UPS. Click Next.


7.) Personal Address: Enter your Personal Address for verification. Click Next.


8.) Personal Validation: To prevent identity theft, UPS asks a series of personal questions to verify your information. Select the proper answers and click Next.


9.) Confirmation: You should receive a confirmation of your account creation. Included will be your UPS User ID and UPS Account Number (note this information, as you will need it in your Bigcommerce settings).

Generating an Access Key (Access License Number)
Once you have your UPS Profile and Account set up, you will need to generate an Access Key, also called an Access License Number, in the Support -> Technology Support -> Developer Resource Center -> UPS Developer Kit section of your UPS account.

1.) Request an access key: Once you are logged in to UPS and have navigated to the UPS Developer Kit section, click Request an access key.


2.) Contact Information: You will be prompted to verify or enter your contact information. Once you have done so, click Request Access Key.


3.) Confirmation: Here you will receive confirmation of your new Access Key (for your records, this information will also be emailed to the email address on your UPS account), along with the services currently available to you. (take note of your Access Key, as you will need it in your Bigcommerce settings).

Setting up your account in Bigcommerce
To reach this area, first navigate to Settings -> Shipping in your Control Panel.


1.) Store Address: If you haven't already, enter your store's address and click Save.


2.) Shipping Zones: Navigate to the Shipping Zones tab and find the zone to which you want to add the UPS Online Tools method. Under Action, choose Edit Methods.

NOTE: If you first need help adding a Shipping Zone you may want to visit this article first.



3.) Add Method: On the Shipping Methods tab, choose Add a Shipping Method.


4.) Shipping Method Settings: Select UPS Online Tools from the list provided. Once selected, you may also change the display name if you choose.


5.) UPS Online Tools Settings: Scroll down and you will find several different options:

  • Account Information: Enter your Access License Number (also called an Access Key), your Access User ID and Access Password. Optionally, to receive UPS Negotiated rates, enter your UPS Account Number.

  • Destination Type: Choose whether the destination type will be Residential or Commercial.

  • Pickup Type: Choose between various UPS-supplied pickup types (i.e. Customer Counter, Daily Pickup, etc).

  • Packaging Type: Choose between various UPS-supplied packaging types (i.e. Express Box, UPS Letter, etc) or if you plan on packaging items in your own boxes, choose Package.

  • Package Dimensions: Choose whether your items will be combined into one package, packaged separately, or whether your quotes should be determined by total weight only.

  • Delivery Types: Choose your appropriate delivery type options (i.e Ground, Next Day Air, etc) that you want to be available for customers to choose from.

Save and that's it! Your store is now setup to ship using UPS Online Tools for this zone to which you added this method. You can repeat the process with other zones as necessary.

I am trying to set up my shipping for UPS and it is not giving me the option to click the Yes, I agree button under the UPS Technology Agreement page and it is grayed out.  How can I get the UPS option connected?
