Creating a Coupon

1.) Navigate to Marketing -> View Coupon Codes.

2.) Select Create a Coupon Code.

Coupon Details

1.) Enter a Coupon Code. This is what customers will use to apply the discount to their order.

2.) Enter a Coupon Name. This is for internal use of store administrators to help identify the coupon code.

3.) Choose a Discount Type. Select from Dollar amount off Order Total, Dollar amount off each item, Percentage off each item, Dollar amount off shipping, and Free Shipping.

4.) Select the Discount Amount(if applicable).

5.) Select a Minimum Purchase(optional) amount. This limits what orders the coupon can be applied to based on the cost of the products in the order.

6.) Number of Uses(optional): Limit the total number of uses or uses per customer.

7.) Enabled: Select if you would like the coupon to be enabled immediately.

8.) Set an Expiry Date(optional) for the coupon code as necessary.

Select what Categories or Products the coupon will apply to

1.) Select categories or products.

Note:If a product is inside of any category selected here, the coupon will apply to the product. The product does not need to be in all of the selected categories for the code to be applicable.

Advanced Settings

1.) Select the Advanced tab at the top of the page.

2.) Limit by Location(optional)

3.) Limit by Shipping Method(optional).

Will I be able to use the same promo code made in Storefront after the change to BigCommerce?.

I am wanting to create a promo code for a repeat customer. I want to give the promo code an expiration date of a month away, but I am also thinking about switching to BigCommerce early. Will that same promo code be able to be used in (or transferred to) BigCommerce, or will I have to create a brand new promo code?

Edison Jehohannys0500,

There isn't a system like you described but you can create coupons for various types of promotions. See instructions above.

How can I set discounted pricing for a specific date and time range for selected products.

Is it possible to set up promotional pricing (Sale) for a given date range for selected products? I would like to create a promotion calendar so that the selected products would sell at a sale price for given number of days? I would also like to set up a limit on the number of units that can be sold at the discounted price. As an extension to this, can I offer a promotional pricing for certain hours during the day (just like Happy Hour pricing)? Idea is to have the prices roll back to regular price once the time period/offered inventory expires.

I am trying to setup a free shipping coupon on my site and exclude some heavy items. I followed the directions and left the categories with the heavy items unchecked (even left the primary categories unchecked) but if i act as a customer and put items in my cart and use the coupon it gives them free shipping on anything in the cart even the heavy items i want to exclude. This doesn't make any sense to me why it is not working correctly?

Hi Jill1739,

We will need to take a look at the coupon. You can call support on Monday, or you can create a new topic here in the community, and make sure that you check the box for private. Then you can create a user for us, or provide us your login so we can see what's going on.
