I don't like the color that is currently setup for my background. How can I change this? Can I add an image instead?

Hi,

Here are instructions to change the background on the website?

  1. Click Websites Manager in the left navigation menu. Then, click Edit Site.

  2. In the top toolbar, click Page Settings and select Background, Links, Footer. This section is where you can change your background. You have the option to use a solid color, pattern style, or custom image that you can upload.

  3. Save and Publish your website to see the background change live on your website.

Hope that helps!

sameh0795,

Changing the template will remove all information. Changing the background color will not.

guayecoimp5207, Have you refreshed your browser history? Go to the page and hit f5. If that doesn't resolve it, then please specify the page and what color you see vs the color you desire.

this is not working for me!!! I had originally used an image. Then decided to go back to a solid color. I have hit the radio button for the solid color and when I am in the design mode it is using the solid color background.. Then when I hit previw the darn image background shows again.

Hi Ben, you can edit the background by following the steps in this thread. Then, anything you add, text boxes, pictures, etc. will all be layered on top of the background.

Hi Mike.
Thanks for this.

I have tried to follow the steps above, but it looks like things have been changed online, as there isn't a "page settings" options in the online editor.

Is there any way to do this in the full site builder?

My apologies Ben, I didn't notice that you are on the Desktop version of SiteBuilder. In your version, you'll have to click the Page Info button on the top, then look to the right hand side in the properties editor instead.

My site has a white background for the site pages and I want to keep it white BUT I would like the white of the site pages to be set off by another background color (just like this page is white against a gray background). Is there any easy way to do this or do I have to recreate my whole site?

fyi - My site is currently set at 980 pixels and centered, but I need the background "framing".

I appreciate any help or suggestions!

The easiest thing to do would be to increase your page width from the current 980px to about 1050 or 1100. Then go into the editor screen and insert an ordinary rectangle and resize it to give the web page that framed, effect. Then just layer the image by using the "send to back" feature so that it's layered behind the rest of the content.

Let us know if you need more instructions or guidance.

I want to design backgrounds for each page of my site in Photoshop. Is that a viable possibility, and what would be the best way to go about it? (File size/type?)

I have what is probably a really weird question: it has come to my attention that the entire background of my site has become a link to a google+ page. If a visitor clicks anywhere on my page text or background they will be taken to google+. If they click on an actual link, they go to the correct link. Can someone PLEASE tell me how this happened and how to fix it?

Can you tell us which site and with page(s) this is happening on, and we'll be happy to take a look?

. It sounds like you accidentally added a hyperlink to the image, but it can easily be fixed. In most cases, you just click on the image, then look to the right side for a "Link" button where you can add/remove the url that you are linking to.

You are always so helpful Mike. Thanks!

the site is www.gaminolawoffices.com

I am sure I caused it somehow. I don't know if I affected it a couple weeks ago or if has been a longstanding issue that I just noticed. But, I had been stuck with a google + logo on the sidebar of the page and I wanted that to disappear so a few weeks ago I added some coding to the make the "google+" not visible. It went away and I thought it was now coded to be the same color as the background. But, perhaps I did that wrong and caused the background to be the link... I don't know how to change it without having that wording reappear on the sidebar of the site. The background appears to be linked to the google+ on every page of the site currently, on every part of the page, except where I have a text box or picture covering the background.... :(

You have the Google+ button coded in an HTML box in the top right of your page.  You also have links to Google+ in your head tag.  I would remove the code from the head tag linking to Google+ and just keep the HTML box to link to the Google page.

How do you change background of picture box to "none"? There is an image now in the box.....if that is a problem, I can remove until I get background to be "none."

Right now it looks like you have the background set to "black" which is what's on the published site. Can you try to make the desired change, and publish it so we can see what is wrong?

It's most likely a caching problem since it's just occurring on that one computer. Clear your cache, do a restart and see if that fixes the problem.

How do I clear my cache and cookies in my web browser?

Clearing the cache is simple - hit F5, and that does it. For your browser, go to Settings>History>select cookies and delete

sameh0795,

The background changed ok for me. Are you talking about the red pattern? or the gold pattern behind the text.

The background will tile if it isn't big enough. You can add it as an image and place it in the back of all the elements, or you can add the background using HTML and include the no repeat option
