A contact form is a great way to help customers get in touch with you. Bigcommerce provides a basic built-in contact form in the Web Content area, but if you're looking for something a little fancier, check out the amazing 3rd party forms listed at the bottom of this article.

Built-in Contact Form

1. Go to Web Content › Web Pages, and click Create a Web Page.

Create a Web Page button in Web Content

2. For This Page Will, select Allow people to send questions/comments via a contact form.

Contact form is selected

3. Enter the Page NameFor example, Contact Us

Page Name

4. Add any information, message, or pictures you'd like to include in the Page Content section. The Page Content section has the same functionality as the WYSIWYG Editor in your product pages.

A page name URL and some basic information in the page content area

5. In Email Questions to, enter only one email addressThe contact form can only be sent to one email address by Bigcommerce, but you can set up an email filter if you need it sent to additional email addresses.

Email Questions To containing a single email address

6. Under Show These Fields, click on each field you want to appear on your contact form. These can be updated whenever you like.

Show these fields

7. Select your preferred Navigation Menu and Advanced options.

8. Save & Exit when you are finished.

Third-party contact forms

You may wish to add custom fields or other features to the contact form. In this case, we recommend using a custom form builder and embedding it into your page.

1. Using a custom form builder, create your form and copy the Embed code.

2. In the Bigcommerce control panel, go to Web Content › Web Pages, and click Create a Web Page.

Create a Web Page button in Web Content

3. For This Page Will, select Contain content created using the WYSIWYG editor below.

Regular webpage is selected

4. Enter your Page NameFor example, Contact Us.

Page Name

5. Click the HTML Button in the far right on the Page Content toolbar.

HTML button in the WYSIWYG toolbar

From here you will need to add the embed code that you will get from your form provider.

Some time ago I changed the 'message' a customer receives after submitting a Contact Form and with all the new templates I can no longer locate that custom message (which now I would like to modify). Hope you can point me in the right direction. (my custom message is still showing as the reply after template changes but cannot locate where that is.

Thank you!

Which page is the form on? Is it built from Bigcommerce, or is it an integrated 3rd party form?

again, so sorry for the delay as we are still not getting these replies. It is the built-in form in BC and I am looking to change the 'message' a person receives immediately after submitting the form ....(somewhat like 'thank you....'.  I changed the message a long time ago but with all the changes in templates not sure where or how to change it again.

Thanks.

So, it seems the form page is under web content and you have customized the page. BC says that the message would be message.html, but they said that is not customized. Is one of those pages what you are looking for?

Oh thank you as I did get a notice of your reply. So I did try 'message.html' as it seemed the logical choice but also scoured around some other templates and could not find anything that was changed.

Here is a snippet of my current message (fairly confident that was not the original store message...lol). So I would like to modify it if possible.

Thanks

Try looking at the page in your web content area, not in the templates. You can make pages for things like terms of service etc. That is where the form was made.

I think you are misunderstanding the issue. The snippet above is the message a person receives after they have submitted the form. I want to change the 'message' above which I am confident was not BC 'boiler plate' message - I customized that sometime ago but can no longer see how (or from where) they 'populate' it.

This is what BC said in regards to editing this text. I have never tried this.Let me see if I can find out more.

it's in message.html and pulled from a global variable which changes depending what page it appears on, so you could modify the template with JS to specifically search for that feedback message and replace the text otherwise you might overwrite a bunch of other important messages

I am not able to find anywhere this can be edited. It doesn't seem like we can view/change the php served pages, but I am still looking

Bigcommerce is telling me that it is not editable. I will keep looking though.
