How Can I run a Trace Route?

If you are having problems connecting to Homestead.com please follow the steps below to run a Trace Route.




1. Open the Run box using pressing the Windows key +R. 


2. Type “CMD”  and press “Enter” to open the
command prompt

3. Next, at the prompt enter tracert
homestead.com
and allow it to finish. 



The tracert command will produce a report that looks like below.







Take a screenshot of the report and paste it into a reply on this thread.

For anyone that is having problems copying and pasting the trace report into this thread you can copy and paste by doing the following.

1. After the report is done running, click inside the black box and use the key combinations:  Ctrl + A,  followed by Ctrl + C,  which will select all the text and copy it to your clip board.
2. Then, return to this thread, click inside the reply or comments box and do a Ctrl + V, which will paste the report into your reply.

If you are using a Mac and need to run a trace route report follow the steps here:

  1. Double-click the Macintosh hard drive.
  2. Double-click the Applications folder.
  3. Double-click the Utilities folder.
  4. Double-click the Network Utility icon to open the Network Utility window.
  5. Click the Traceroute tab.
  6. Enter a domain in the Please enter the network address to trace an internet route to field.
  7. Click Start.

June 20, 2014 - We have identified an issue with an upstream provider, that is preventing some areas form connecting to Homestead.com. We are working with them to resolve this issue. We will update this topic as we receive more information.

For now we do not need to collect any more trace routes.
