Sometimes 3rd party browser plug-ins, and add-ons can cause problems with the performance of your web browser, and are sometimes associated with ad-ware. If your SiteBuilder seems to act buggy, or have unexplained links leading to unwanted ads, these add-ons might be the culprit.

Here are the steps to remove these add-ons from the most popular browsers:

Firefox; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/...

Internet Explorer:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...

Chrome; https://support.google.com/chrome/ans...

Safari: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/...

Hello Rick0903, We see this on a pretty regular basis. It's most likely that you have some sort of ad-ware installed on your computer. It usually piggy-backs onto your computer when you download some other software. There's a good chance you'll find it if you look at your browser add-ons.

Sounds like you have some adware installed on your browser. If you can't find it in your browser addons, then run a full virus scan.

how do I keep ads from appearing on website.

I believe somebody may have hacked into my website and is posting ads on it. I changed my password and reworded my page, published it and the ads still appear on certain keywords. Let me know what you see at www.groundpoundersllc.com

It's most likely just a browser add-on causing the issue. These types of adware seem to be getting pretty common. They usually install themselves on your computer when you install another piece of software. If you check your browser add-ons and extensions, you'll probably find the culprit. See instructions above.

Follow the steps above. This is most likely an issue of adware attached to a browser add-on or toolbar.

My website is creating its own links to advertising websites!! How do I stop this???.

My website keeps linking its text to other advertising websites that I don't want to link to. I DID NOT put these links in, and according to me site, these words are just plain text. But when I view my site, random key words like 'automotive,' or 'facebook page,' are linking to other sites.

Why is this happening, and how the hell can I turn it off?!?!

You likely have some adware or other malicious software installed on your web browser. You can almost always fix this by removing the related browser addon. It's probably something that accidentally got installed on your computer when downloading some other software.

Unwanted phantom moving image on index page.

There are two moving hands on the index page of my website. They start with fingers outstretched, palm facing out and then move to a pointing a finger to the right. I didn't put it there. How did this happen and how can they be removed.

It sounds like you have some malware or adware installed on your computer or browser. If you click on the object, does it take you to another site?

These things often piggyback themselves onto your computer when you install other software. You can frequently remove them from your browser addons and plugins.

To verify this, check your site using a different browser and different computer. The moving hands are not visible on my end so I'm pretty sure its probably just some adware.

In addition to the pop-up ad links - these audio ads start and there is no way to shut them off when you link on the site. i did not insert any of these ugly things to my site some of them on the second page are ugly things. I cannot affiliate with certain institutions and video because of Biblical beliefs.

We do not place any of that content on your site. It sounds like your pc or web browser is infected with adware. Follow the steps above as the stuff you are describing is usually associated with programs you've installed.

truth9880, Also, regarding your question about the domian privacy feature. It is not related to this issue at all. The domain privacy add-on, is a feature that keeps your personal contact information (name, address, phone number) off of all the public Whois websites.

Under the extra services add-on after logging out I found.....

To attach these ads to my website sort of felt like voodoo and witchcraft attached to me after publishing the second page. These ads were not there at the publication of the first page to alter a published work is witchcraft because it is rebellion to the law. to alter God's word is rebellion and rebellion is as of the sin of witchcraft.

I had to go and uninstall some extra services that I do not think I added myself but it was in the mozilla tool addon extensions - i removed all the recent ones to make sure it was gone but the ad link in gray is still down in the corner and it is a homestead ad?

I am not seeing any ads from my end. We don't actually place any ads on yoru site. You might try checking the site with a different web browser or even a different computer. Most likely the problem is still more adware on the computer.

If you have ads showing up on your site, it's most likely adware installed on your computer. Mot of the time these ads are a result of software you installed and can be removed by following the steps above.

Can you explain what you mean by "server loading problems"?

Website Infested with Ads and/or a Virus.

My website has been populated or infested with ads that pop-up. They are embedded in highlighted, key words and also with little green symbols attached to words. At the bottom of the home page there is even an ad for some type of equipment I do not recognize.

I may have clicked on one such ad while searching the Internet.

Is there a way to clean my site? Refreshing the browser, Safari, did not remove the problem.

Is there a way to close my site until this is resolved?

Please help!

Hello Anane3760, The problem is not with your site, so other viewers are not seeing these ads. Most likely, you have some adware/malware installed on your computer. This type of malware can usually be found by checking your browser add-ons and pluggins as shown above.

When I type in our URL; on the home page, there is a phone number on the upper right hand corner in red, that I never put there and isn't there when I'm in SiteBuilder Plus (editing our site), it shouldn't be there and I have no idea how to remove it when it's not even there while I'm editing my cite?? How do I remove that phone # when it's not even showing up in our editing pages?

rvconnelly20055676,

I am not seeing it on this end which means it's probably something isolated to your computer or a specific web browser. This often happens as a result of some adware being installed on your web browser.

There appears to be a virus or some sort of code embedded on my website. When I preview the site, different dating and/or random ads pop up. When I linked my page headers, my site did not show in previews but a dating ad showed up.

Please advise.

It's unlikely your site is infected, rather it's probably adware installed on your web browser.  Follow the steps on this thread to remove or disable your browser addons and pluggins and you'll probably find the problem.

Hi Phyllis1647
,  It sounds like you are referring to Skype's "click to call" feature. This is a browser addon which can be disabled or removed without having to uninstall the full Skype application.  This page shows you how to access the browser addons/pluggins for the most common browsers.
