There are basically four different ways by which you can offer discounts on your products in BigCommerce.

  • Sale Price

  • Coupon Codes

  • Discount Rules

  • Group-Based Pricing

Setting a Sale Price

If you want all your customers to be able to purchase the product at the discounted price, and you wish to have the "crossout" retail price display, then setting a sale price is your best option.

1.) Login to your store's control panel.
2.) Either add a new product, or edit an existing one.
3.) On the Details tab, scroll down beneath the Product Description until you find the Price bow.
4.) Click the More Price Options link.

5.) Now, you'll see three more fields display: Cost Price, Retail Price, and Sale Price. To have your prices show up with the Retail Price (RRP or MSRP) crossed out and the sale price bold and in a different color, you must place a price in both the Retail and Sale Price fields. Also, the Retail Price and Price fields must be higher than the Sale Price field. Here's an example:

6.) Once you've done this, click Save & Exit.

Repeat the process as necessary for your products. If you plan on doing this process for all your products, you may wish to look into bulk exporting and importing with a CSV.

Here's a video detailing how to set a sale price:

How much do you charge for shipping

As the business owner/manager, you will have to determine what you need to charge for shipping or accept the charges used by UPS, USPS etc. when you set up your store.

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: shipping

My old store has tons of buy 3=get a deal on all of my products. Plus other coupon codes out there on the net. But, none of those transferred over, and I don't see it on the product export/import. I really don't want to have to go into each product and set up the codes, plus add video links, and redo all of my store promos.

Do you have bulk imports for:
-price discounts on individual products
-video links on individual products
-coupon codes for the store

Based on your answer above (Sale Price, Coupon Codes, Discount Rules, Group-Based Pricing), the only bulk import I've seen is for the Sale Price on product import.

Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately discounts are not imported. You can bulk import options and rules for pricing, but those should have been migrated fro you.

It looks like the video code moved over. I check All Purpose Mini Variety and it is there, but apparently the video is no longer on Facebook, as it doesn't work on the old store either. Can you give me an example of one that works on the old store, but not the new?

Thanks Drew. The video code moved over in the product description, but I want to put video links from my youTube page in the new video tabs on each page, and was hoping for a quick and easy way to do that. I suppose I'll have to open 80+ pages and do it manually.

Also, here is any example of how all product rules didn't move over. Faucet Soaps are 3 for $24 on my old site (making anything over 3, only $8 each). The big commerce site still charges $10 each.

How can I bulk import options and rules for pricing as you describe above?

Thank you.

I see. Here is the problem. Rules are part or product options and option sets. These are equivalent to Prostores' attributes.

Prostores handled quantity discounts as a coupon. Unfortunately, we were not able to migrate coupons. This is why those didn't come over. I am sorry, but those need to be added in as bulk pricing in Bigcommerce.
