How Homestead has evolved.....

Justin Kitch, CEO and founder of Homestead Technologies started it in 1997-1998 He started this company in his bedroom when he lived in a house with five other guys out of college, so you start out very frugally. He had his first office six months later above a restaurant, so you build a culture early on that tries to be frugal and it evolved from there. After 10 years he Sold it to Intuit in 2007 for $170 Million and agreed to stay on with Intuit as Chief Growth Officer until 2010. He now has several on line businesses he is involved with.

Then Intuit Sold it in August 2012 To Endurance International Group, Inc. (EIG), formerly BizLand, which is a Web hosting company. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.

The cost of the sale to Endurance was not disclosed in the announcement. In the press release, the company says the Intuit Websites business contributed $76 million of revenue in fiscal 2012.

Endurance is well known for its ongoing effort to acquire prominent hosting companies serving the mass market. Endurance tends to continue operating those hosting brands it acquires as separate brands, while migrating some of their systems onto its own platform, and the company currently operates close to 40 hosting brands, serving nearly 3 million customers and 10 million domains.

“With this acquisition, Endurance will add the intuitive and adaptable website builder that Intuit
developed, which will provide immediate benefits to our customers and strategic value to our company,” said Hari Ravichandran, chief executive officer and founder of Endurance, also quoted in the press release. “This acquisition also enables Endurance to provide current Intuit Website customers with access to our comprehensive online applications and services, allowing them to enhance and grow their online presences over time.”

Endurance’s most recent acquisition move was the purchase of shared and reseller hosting giant HostGator. While the news first surfaced in June as rumor, it has since been confirmed by the companies.

E.I.G. owns and operates numerous other hosting businesses, with shared support information and support agents.

This is all good information, but still no excuse for the absence of notification to users concerning the current situation. Thanks Keith.

Keith,

occurs to me you may well be the answer to our prayers. For what it's worth - 50% of our business comes from the website and I am seriously worried from what I've been reading over the last few weeks. Homestead may not make it. The worst is that Management (if there is such a thing)  does not squarely address the community: "Here is what happened"..."Here is what we are doing about it"...and "This is how long it may take."

We - the community - need someone to study what other web hosting services are out there and - most importantly - find a service that we can migrate our Homestead content to. Hopefully with minimal effort. If you have the skills (obviously you do, see above) and the time, this may be an opportunity to make some extra cash for Christmas. For me specifically, if you could recommend 1, 2 or 3 such services - worth $100 to me. There may be a good number of others willing to reimburse you for your time and effort as well.

If successful, there may be a phase II - migrate my site to the next service, check it out: www.techforag.com. Point being, I have a business to run and I am not exactly a website specialist (although I wrote my own site. Been at it since 2007)

Thanks for your time and consideration. Much appreciated. Regards, Rolf

Indeed, what Rolf says, with who? And more importantly what was said?

Rolf8076,

This is not an appropriate place to discuss other web hosting services. The community is for Homestead support. I understand what you are looking for, but it will not be permitted here. I am sorry.

I'm sorry Rolf8076 but there is no way I have time to do this, I am praying Endurance fixes everything so "we" don't have to move.
But your offer was very generous! :-) Thank You!

I had to add something to my website today, I tried to log-in with Desktop SiteBuilder and still can't log-in, now Day 21! :-(

I did use their on line SiteBuilder Plus and man did it ever SUCK today!
Super SLOW!!! I wanted to pull my hair out! :-(
But finally it saved and published!
I pray to God that we don't have to always use that program!

Try and have a nice day, and remember, it's got to get better right?
Peace.....Keith
