If you login to your Homestead account and visit the Domains page, here you get two options to point your domain away. You can point with the Advanced DNS, or you can point it using Nameservers. Pointing with Nameservers are generally a bit easier. Contact GoDaddy for this information, and we can help set it up once you have received the pointing info.

Thanks Todd, I do have all that information and thought I had it correct but kept getting a "pageok" ... which I thought was strange.

If you have it pointing now, awesome! Keep in mind, your current package supports creating more websites on Homestead, but if you're going to just point your current domain, you can always go to domain hosting which would be much cheaper.

I guess whats throwing me off is not knowing which A record to change to the IP address. Which one do I edit?

I see that you have pointed them with the Nameservers, and I do see your website is showing up online now. Were you still needing assistance with the A records?

Todd H, I noticed that this thread is the exact situation I find myself in. Please let me know exactly how I can go from my creating website on Homestead to just pointing my current domain (in Homestead) that would be much cheaper. I have set up my domain on eHost to utilize Wordpress apps, etc., but need to make such a transition of website-building companies (keeping domain only with Homestead). Thanks!

Andy, do you have the pointing information from the site host account? They may provide you with DNS records or nameservers to change on our end. Our domain hosting is $14.99/year, which we can change at any time.

Hello!  I'm also trying to point a domain to GoDaddy via Advanced DNS settings.  I just want to update the A record to the new site: e55.ea3.myftpupload.com and/or IP Address 198.71.233.195.  I'm having some difficulty with the records.  Can someone look and help please?

Can you post the pointing instructions they gave you? I won't know if it is right, if I don't know what they want done.

Hi Drew,
What are "pointing instructions"?  So sorry.  I know the IP address and temporary domain site name (above).  We want artechreno.org to point there.

They should have provided you with a set of records. Something with a host, like @, *, or www that points to the IP or to a URL. I can try doing what I think they might want, but I am not sure if it will without the actual records they want. IP addresses are for A records, but the temp domain name would be a CNAME or something we do not need at all.
