How can I add shipping and tax rates? I don't think my store is called a Simple Store.

In managing Shipping, it only shows to add a price for first and second item. I need to add a chart according to the total in cart instead. Also, in taxes, it only shows automatic to shipping destination. I need it to just show my Tennessee tax rate.

Hello JeepGirl71755

The shipping options you see are the ones that are available.
For the taxes, you can turn off the automatic taxes to be able to set them per state.

For some reason, the tax stopped working. I have the automatic turned off and have applied the tax rate of 9.75%, but when I test the checkout process, it only charges the shipping, but doesn't charge the tax. I can't figure out why it's not working today.

Hey JeepGirl71755

It isn't going to show the tax until the customer gets to the point that they input and save their address. I just went to your site to test going through the process of purchasing something, and I put my address in, clicked "Save and Continue" and it applied the tax (9.75%)

I don't see a place to be able to add the tax rate. And I don't see a place to add a shipping rate. It just shows where I can put a shipping charge in for the first and second item in a cart. Since I don't know what people will have in their carts, I can't give a shipping rate. I need to set one up according to what the total cart comes to.

We just launched an update to the store. Can you please go look at the shipping options and let me know if that fixes your issue?

Unfortunately, the update of adding an integrated shipping option will not help me because I do not ship from my location. Once I receive an order, I send to another location to be processed and shipped. I have to pay their shipping charges, which is why I need to be able to create my own shipping price chart to my customers. Otherwise, there is going to be too big of a difference in what I actually pay to ship out the products and what my customers pay. In most cases, I'll be paying more than I'm able to collect with the current set up. I'd like the shipping charge to be based on the total price of purchase, as usually is the case with catalog orders. On order forms inside catalogs, there's always a shipping chart to go by. Do you think there's a way you can fix it to where my checkout process can calculate the shipping based on a chart that I can create? Thanks for you willingness to help. I appreciate your time so much.

Oh, ok. I'm sorry, I really hoped that update they just sent through would resolve the issue. Unfortunately, no we don't have any other options or fixes regarding the shipping. I can put in the suggestion for that shipping option, but can't give any guarantee that it will happen. If this is something that is crucial for your business, I would sadly have to recommend looking into a different ecommerce option.

Thank you for your effort in trying to help the shipping situation. I'm surprised no one has ever asked about it before. Yes, I would love you to suggest that shipping option. There has to be a way. Hopefully, once you suggest a shipping chart like ones inside a mail order catalog, they'll understand. Let me know what they say. I am so appreciative of any help you can be. My site has launched, but I am not "getting the word out" and marketing like I plan to, until I am able to fix this shipping rate problem.
I don't want people to be turned off right away, so I'm not going to advertise in any way, until I am satisfied that I can make the shipping prices appealing to them.
