About 6 weeks ago, I started getting "Mail delivery failed - return message to sender" notifications when emailing certain customers. The message says my domain name or IP address has been flagged as spam. Well, I have a gmail account sending from the same IP address so I know its not that. It has to be Homestead related.

Homestead tech "support" says they can't do anything about it. Has anyone else had this problem? I am looking at moving my website hosting and email to another company because of unreliable email.

Here's an example:

Hello,

I can try and help you with this. You domain it's self thechangecollaborative.com is not appearing on any blacklists. So it's possible it could be from the content of the email, like a signature, or something else is being caught in the filter. Do you have the email headers of one of the emails you sent that got returned?

Here's an example of a returned email header: Fwd: RE: Background info

I have also had emails flagged for headers like "July Invoice"

I have the same problem. This is the message:

SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL

    host inbound. [209.17.115.10]:

553 5.3.0 66.96.187.8 Your message was rejected for possible spam/virus content. Please ask your email provider to visit http://emailadmin.registeredsite.com for resolution.

I have been emailing to this address for over ten years and have never had this problem before.

I am attaching the header here (with my email address and the person's email receiving it removed for security). Note that I do have a signature in the message.

Nothing there was flagged as spam in our system but the company you are sending to may use a different spam filter than ours. Can you try removing the signature temporarily and sending a blank email with no attachments to them? Is it only to a certain email address do you get the rejected message?

It tends to be one person who has his own business, and also any email I send to a large corporation. I also have found problems when I send homestead email from my iphone - those usually get rejected 100% of the time to the two groups mentioned above. When I send on my PC its about 50/50.

I just sent a test email to the one person's account earlier today. No bounce back. I removed my signature and it seems to have gone through.

As and FYI, this was the support response I received from Homestead. Question, if my message isn't going through, how am I supposed to contact the receiver's mail admin?

Hello,

We sincerely apologize for nay inconvenience this has caused you. The email content which is is trying to send is considered as spam by recipient server. There is nothing we can do from our end because recipient server is rejecting it. You can send some simple email content and test the functionality. Alternatively, you can contact recipient mail administrator and whitelist your domain name or the mailbox address.

Please do not reply to this email, this is an unattended mailbox.

Sincerely,

The Homestead Websites Team

You can attempt to contact them from a personal email address like a gmail or yahoo, and let them know that they are rejecting your other email address. It sounds like it could be something pertaining to the signature or the content of the email and not your entire domain based on what you were saying worked.
