Hello, I am having issues with SEO as it appears I have two home pages, this is just an example (my site is not abc.com I am just using this as an example) abc.com and abc.com/index.html.

(1) SiteGuru is advising me: Redirect index.html to the root

https://www.abc.com/ and https://www.abc.com/index.html are one and the same page. Avoid duplicate content by redirecting /index.html to the root of your website.

In my file manager I only see a page HOME (index) I do not see any other pages for HOME where is the abc.com Home page located in my file manager??

Hello,

For Sitebuilder plus websites abc.com and abc.com/index.html are the same page. Upon visiting the domain directly it will display abc.com but when you leave a page and reference back it adds /index.hmtl as this is the page name it is pulling. This is the way the software was designed and will not have any negative impact on SEO.

Hello Michelle,

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately it is affecting my SEO  as I am using Site Guru and Neil Patel Ubersuggest site analyzer and both are stating: 2 pages with duplicate content/meta descriptions.

Site Guru: Fix broken pages 2 pages are broken. Redirect index.html to the root https://www.abc.com and https://www.abc.com/index.html (abc.com is not my website, just an example) are one and the same page. Avoid duplicate content by redirecting /index.html to the root of your website.

Neil Patel Ubersuggest: 2 pages with duplicate meta descriptions https://www.abc.com and https://www.abc.com/index.html

Both are stating HIGH SEO IMPACT.

Any suggestions??

/index.html as this is the page name it is pulling, why in the world would you design your software be designed to pull  /index.html instead of of just plain .com.

I have attempted a few different options to override URL from adding the .index for the home page but unfortunately was unsuccessful. This is the way the software was programmed when reference the home page and cannot be changed. This software was designed many years ago and the best option I can recommend to obtain your request is to utilize the new software, WebsiteBuilder. This will do exactly what you are looking for and only displays the domain.com when linked to the home page.
