On https://deyfinalpersonal.homesteadcloud.com/poetry, I was adding links to text titles on a Text Element made list that I typed out.  Each row was its own title and link.  How I made the list was to type one title, press "return", and type the next title, and so on.  Then I would highlight one line (title), click the "link" icon on the select menu, click "Page", select the appropriate page, then select "OK".  Then highlight the next line ans repeat the process, and so on.  Then I woudl publish the page and check it online.  Sometimes the online version would not update (even with a refresh) for several hours, but that is not what I am addressing here.

It took me more than 20 tries and ways to get it to work for one specific line - "King Of The Mountain" (center row on bottom of page).  It kept trying to link to "Insecurity, The Enemy In Me", even though I clearly highlighted only the "King Of The Mountain:" text and instructed it to link to King Of The Mountain and published the changes.

I tried retyping it.
I tried a line of space between it and the one before and after it.
I tried reloading the editor
I tried rebooting everything
I tried clearing the cache

After two days working on this one problem and over 20 tries of various means, I finally got it to work.

All the other links in the same box worked fine the first time, and this one was done initially in the same manor as all the others. I don't know what caused the inconsistency, but there is definitely a glitch that does not have the selected text do as instructed sometimes when it comes to linking text to a specific page.

Considering how many hundreds of links are going to be in this website when it is finished, this issue could cause me major problems later if not fixed.  Please look into it.

Hi there Davideyoung

My best recommendation would be to limit the number of different links you have in one text box. Maybe try doing 5 or 10 in a box, and then create a new text box for more links.

Let me get this straight.  You are saying that I should create multiple small text boxes for one list (which is both time consuming for me and increases loading time and room for error for the viewer), even though it worked just fine with larger text boxes on the same page, rather then you working on fixing a bug in your coding?

We are investigating the possibility of an issue in the coding, but have not run into this particular issue with anyone else. If you need to make these links now, my suggestion will be the most expedient solution. We will be looking into this, but we have not yet been able to confirm it is an issue with the coding.

I also have a second issue that has come up with the text.

On the mobile version, I asked it to make the text a specific color since it will not place my box behind the text on mobile view.  However, it only made SOME of the text the color I asked it to, while make the rest a different color.  Since I cannot select only a portion of text in the mobile editor, I do not know how to correct this.  So, how do I make ALL of the text in a single box the same color on the mobile version, if a different color than the desktop version?

So I can't speak for how the text was added before, but I just tried to replicate what you are doing, so I added a text box and pasted the text you have in that first box, went into the mobile and chose the style I wanted for it, then went back into the desktop and created all of the links and it is working fine. I saved it so you can see it in the builder. I would recommend doing exactly that because I did it and it definitely works. No issues with the linking. No issues changing the formatting with the text (following the instructions from the link I posted above)

You can also change the color of the text box background in the mobile text box settings

That is exactly as I did in the first place.  As you can see, it worked on the final list, but on the first and second, it left some links the desktop color, while others it properly turned the mobile color while in mobile.

Do I really have to completely retype and relink the entire list on each until I get it to work on one again?

Well, I ended up doing just that.  I completely redid all three lists and they work fine now.  Very frustrating that I even had to.  I did nothing different than on the first time, but now they work and before they didn't.

However I did discover what MAY have triggered the bug.

I will use the word "GREAT" as an example.

If I have a multi-line link list, and after a linked line, type the sentence ending in GREAT (example), then highlight that sentence, but make the MISTAKE of only highlighting up till before the last letter (GREA) and miss the "T", then make a link to a page using that highlight, it naturally only has the new underline for a link for "GREA" and not "T".  So far so good.

I notice the missing underline on the "T" and realize I made a mistake, so I highlight the whole word or phrase, including the "T" and tell it to link to the page I want.  Here comes the problem:

Now it puts it in an entire different text format.  INSTEAD of it now overwriting the previous link by making the whole highlighted section link to where I want, it now REMOVES the underline, makes the text bold, links it to the page from the PREVIOUS line (the line above it), and CHANGES THE TEXT COLOR to pink (Even if the page default link color is blue).

On the lists I had the trouble that started this thread with, this happened a few times.  How I responded:

I highlighted the bold pink text, changed it back to the color I wanted, underlined it, and unboldened it.  Then I published to check my link, and found that it did not link to the page I had instructed it to, but to the page from the line above it.

In the editor I tried dozens of times and different ways to get it to link to the right page, and just could not.

Now I know from experimenting today that I had to completely delete all text affected, deleted the lines before and after, then retype them and relink them without missing any letters when doing so.

This fixed all of the issues - the not linking to where I told it to and the color issue in mobile view (The ones that had turned pink were the ones that did not recognize mobile color instructions and stayed dark blue on mobile).

So you have a glitch when a person re-highlights a text that had been linked along with a non linked text and tries to have the entire new highlighted area go to a link.  This event somehow causes the text to go into a different format program that does not interact with the builder instructions well.  You may want to have your programmers look into it, because I know I am not the only one who sometimes does not get an entire line highlighted when linking text.

Oh, I understand now. Unfortunately, that isn't so much a glitch as it is just giving mixed signals to the builder, and it doesn't know what to do. The way to prevent this would be, if you accidentally miss some text when highlighting originally, make sure to remove the mistake first by un-linking that text, then link the proper text. That way the builder isn't trying to read 2 different linking parameters on the same text. That should definitely fix that issue.
