Extremely important domain information

Please read through this topic carefully, as the instructions must be followed in full to reactivate your domain.

If your website and email are not working, please check your domain status. This is done using a Whois Lookup. Enter your domain name and go through the CAPTCHA challenge, then click continue. Look for the domain status. If you see clientHold, then your domain has probably been suspended.

When a domain is registered you agree to maintain current contact information on the domain. ICANN, the governing body of domains, instituted a new policy in 2016; any updates will be required to be verified by the domain owner within 15 days, or the domain will be suspended until successful verification is completed.

If the email address is changed, then you MUST receive and verify the change to the new email address before the hold is lifted.
It is critical for everyone that you double check the contact information on your domains, especially the email address. After you update any domain information, look for the verification email and follow the instructions provided. If you are able to log in to your Homestead account, this is a very simple process.

If your domain is suspended, you will need to log into your Homestead account, proceed to the Domain tab, and update the contact information to trigger a new verification email. If you update the email address, you will have to verify that email address. NEVER use an email address associated with the domain that is already suspended. Please note in addition to updating the email address, a postal code and a state/province are also required.

This is not a Homestead policy, this also applies to all top level domains(TLDs). To ensure your website and email stays active, you can log into your account and update the domain information today if necessary.

View the screenshots below to see how to update the information.

1) Log into your account at http://www.homestead.com. Click on the domains tab, find the domain in question, and click the Edit Contact Info.

2) All the information in this picture is REQUIRED, except phone ext, fax number, and Address Line 2. If you live in a country that doesn't use the postal code, go to http://www.google.com and search for: postal code (insert your address) You must have a valid postal code. Your email address must be one you are currently able to log in to. Click Save

3) Keep an eye on your email. Usually within an hour you will receive an email asking you to verify the information There is a link on the email. You will be taken to a web page. You must click on the verify button. Once done, usually the domain will be up and running within the hour, but in some cases it can take up to 48 hours for all services to resume.
If you cannot log in to the account, please continue reading.

If you do not have access to the Homestead account, then you will need to send an email to compliance@homesteadsupport.com. To prove ownership, you will need to send a color copy of a government issued ID, the best is a driver's license that has the same address as the account. Additional information may also be required if you updated the physical address or your license does not match the address. In each case you will need to prove the old and new information. You can do this by sending a copy of an old utility bill or other document. Compliance will respond to you in 24-48 hours. If the information you provide is not sufficient, then they will request something else.

Additional note: ICANN periodically sends emails to the domain owner. If your email address is out of date then you will not receive this email. If it bounces back to ICANN, your 15 days has begun. They will send several more emails to you, but you will not receive them at the defunct address. Your domain will be suspended, so please check the information on your domain and keep it current at all times.

Thank you from
Your Homestead Support Team

I've tried using different computers and devices, but nothing works. It's really making me angry because if I can't access my website, that means my CUSTOMERS can't access my website. It's Saturday, so of course I can't talk to anyone at homestead to find out what happened to my website!

from Harry1234? ( I'm not sure what my topic name/number is, as I did our Web Site back up, and running through Homestead eventually..

Don't give up. They are available over the weekend. Try and make voice contact if possible, as it is difficult to folllow the steps that they are requiring to gtet you "Verified", which is probably why you lost your domain, or Web Site. Lots of luck.

There is no voice support on the weekends. We do have support here in the community.

It is not Homestead requiring you to verify the domain. It is ICANN, the governing body of all domain names.

MY CONTACT INFORMATION HAS NEVER CHANGED IN THE PAST 14 YEARS..... WHY HAVE YOU SUSPENDED MY DOMAIN NAME.... I HAVE ACCUMULATED MORE THAN $4,000 TO YOUR CONTRACT IN ALL THESE YEARS.... YOU ARE NOT TREATING THIS CUSTOMER FAIRLY.
Photo of Drew N

Drew N, Alum

  • 262,696 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
ICANN, the governing body of domains has suspended your domain. They sent an email to tdburnesi@hotmail.com, asking you to confirm your information 6 times. You did not respond, so the domain was suspended. If you no longer have access to that email address then you must follow the above instructions and verify your contact information.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but this was not Homestead that did this. This happened as a result of a new law this year. You must update your domain contact information and then verify it. Once you do this, your domain will be reactivated. It can take several hours for reactivation.

I MAY BE WRONG BUT WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS IT WOULD SEEM THERE WOULD BE MORE YOU COULD DO AT YOUR END TO ENSURE BETTER EASE IN RESPONDING SUCH AS PERHAPS A SIMPLE REPLY TO YOUR EMAIL ITSELF WITHOUT PLACING ADDED CONSTRAINTS ON YOUR CUSTOMERS, I.E., HAVING TO LOG IN SIMPLY TO VERIFY THAT "NOTHING HAS CHANGED". IN MY INSTANCE I HAVE REMAINED FOR 30 YEARS WITH THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON ANY LETTER YOU SEND WOULD EVER BOUNCE UNLESS YOU HAVE A MISCOMMUNICATION....E.G., MISSPELLED WORD, OR TO AN EMAIL ADDRESS SELDOM OR LESS USED THAN ANOTHER. EVEN WITH A SINGLE EMAIL ADDRESS I HAVE GONE OVERSEAS FOR A MONTH OR TWO WITHOUT USE AT ALL.
THEN I COULD RETURN ONLY TO FIND YOU HAVE "SUSPENDED" MY OPERATION..... ALL UNNECESSARY.
I HAVE HAD THE SAME ID FOR 30 YEARS AND GOD WILLING MAY HAVE IT ANOTHER 30 YEARS... SO PLEASE REDUCE THE NONSENSE, HELP SUPPORT YOUR WILLING SUPPORTERS. TERRY BURNES

I get you are frustrated, but understand that this is ICANN, not Homestead that has made this requirement. I don't know what happened to the emails, but they send you 6 before they suspend the domain. You might not have recognized the sender as it is not Homestead.

At this point, the only way to fix your domain is for you to change your information in the manner I described above. You need to edit the contact information for the domain. Make sure that the email address is one you currently have access to.

You will receive an email, it might go to spam, so you might need to look there. Once you get that email it is really just a matter of clicking on a link to verify.

We appreciate you have been a customer for a long time, and are saddened that you have run into this, but it is nothing that we can fix for you. ICANN, not Homestead suspended your domain and the above method will fix it. ICANN is an international group that governs domain names. The US government is one of the principal members.

I am unable to update my contact info for my domain
(so that i can receive a new email with a verification link that is not expired)
whenever i click "edit contact info" I am sent to a page that says
"Unable to Complete Your Registration

We are currently unable to register your domain. Please try again at a later time."

I have made numerous attempts and I believe my website is down because I have not done this. (Very frustrating)

Help would be appreciated, thanks.

You must follow the instructions above to resolve this. The email address on the domain is shafuffuff1@aol.com. The email sent by the registrar bounced back as undeliverable. Change that to an address you currently have access to. When you receive the verification email, please follow those instructions. It can then take up to 24 hours to reactivate.

ICANN has suspended your domain as you did not keep an updated email address on the domain. This is a new requirement this year and you must complete the steps above.

There is nothing we can do to resolve this. Update your domain email address and verify it, then the domain will be reactivated.

You registered the domain. The email address you used is simone.miyamoto@yahoo.com. ICANN requires that you verify registration within 15 days of a new registration or a change to the domain. I don't know they situation with the email, but the registrar sent you 6 requests to verify. It would have come from OpenSRS.

This is not a problem with Homestead, and not something we are able to fix for you. You have to edit your domain contact information and then enter a new email address that you currently have access to. Once you receive the verification email, you will be able to click on the link. Successful verification will un-suspend your domain. Within 48 hours it will be back up and running.

Only you can resolve this issue by verifying your domain.

Thanks
