If your website and email are not working, please check your domain status. This is done using a Whois Lookup. Enter your domain name and go through the CAPTCHA challenge, then click continue. Look for the domain status. If you see clientHold, then your domain has probably been suspended.
When a domain is registered you agree to maintain current contact information on the domain. ICANN, the governing body of domains, instituted a new policy in 2016; any updates will be required to be verified by the domain owner within 15 days, or the domain will be suspended until successful verification is completed.
If the email address is changed, then you MUST receive and verify the change to the new email address before the hold is lifted.
It is critical for everyone that you double check the contact information on your domains, especially the email address. After you update any domain information, look for the verification email and follow the instructions provided. If you are able to log in to your Homestead account, this is a very simple process.
If your domain is suspended, you will need to log into your Homestead account, proceed to the Domain tab, and update the contact information to trigger a new verification email. If you update the email address, you will have to verify that email address. NEVER use an email address associated with the domain that is already suspended. Please note in addition to updating the email address, a postal code and a state/province are also required.
This is not a Homestead policy, this also applies to all top level domains(TLDs). To ensure your website and email stays active, you can log into your account and update the domain information today if necessary.

1) Log into your account at http://www.homestead.com. Click on the domains tab, find the domain in question, and click the Edit Contact Info.

2) All the information in this picture is REQUIRED, except phone ext, fax number, and Address Line 2. If you live in a country that doesn't use the postal code, go to http://www.google.com and search for: postal code (insert your address) You must have a valid postal code. Your email address must be one you are currently able to log in to. Click Save

3) Keep an eye on your email. Usually within an hour you will receive an email asking you to verify the information There is a link on the email. You will be taken to a web page. You must click on the verify button. Once done, usually the domain will be up and running within the hour, but in some cases it can take up to 48 hours for all services to resume.

If you do not have access to the Homestead account, then you will need to send an email to compliance@homesteadsupport.com. To prove ownership, you will need to send a color copy of a government issued ID, the best is a driver's license that has the same address as the account. Additional information may also be required if you updated the physical address or your license does not match the address. In each case you will need to prove the old and new information. You can do this by sending a copy of an old utility bill or other document. Compliance will respond to you in 24-48 hours. If the information you provide is not sufficient, then they will request something else.
Additional note: ICANN periodically sends emails to the domain owner. If your email address is out of date then you will not receive this email. If it bounces back to ICANN, your 15 days has begun. They will send several more emails to you, but you will not receive them at the defunct address. Your domain will be suspended, so please check the information on your domain and keep it current at all times.

You say that the Feb. 17th Service Issue is Resolved, but i STILL can Not log onto my Website. When I try to Log-on, I get:

I also feel Homestead could have made a bit more effort to notify us. and, I can't' even correct it, *if* I have a contact problem...which is not my problem. if I remember, I had the same issue last time I tried, before I had to quit to take care of some work stuff & home stuff. now I need to get on this.

That old Email address has been there for 14 years, and has been incorrect for over 10 years, This also explains why I did not get the 5 emails.
But I would assume that Homestead, which has had Correct Email Address for over 10 years, would have sent me an email that there was a Problem so that we could fix it!
I have Edited the Domain, Corrected Email address to strippittech@hotmail.com and then Verified the Email that was sent to me.
Now, how long does this take to get site up & running again?
Minutes, Hours, days? Site is still Not working.
And to add further injury, my Top 1 or 2 Google ranking out of 300,000 or so, has disappeared, which took all these years to build. My business phone has Not rang since my site went down. This is an ongoing Disaster for me.

I feel Homestead should have warned me that there was a Problem in that Domain Info and Homestead info had different Email addresses,

I have been with Homestead about 14 years, and changed email 1 time about 12 years ago. They never had trouble reaching me for payment.every 2 years.
I found out my site was down by accident, Homestead should have warned me, then told me that there was a problem developing!!!
I fixed this morning, after 2 days Calling & Emailing trying to find out what happened and how to fix. Site started working after a hour or 2, I think this fix has to crawl around web to all the different servers.
I also had customer that could see some of my pages that I could not.
I did a cold reboot on my PC, and it worked, but might have been a coincidence, no way to tell.
Working OK now, but I had a #1 ranking, and now Engines can not even find me. I am very upset as this did not have to happen this way.

I have been with Homestead for at least 10 years, having relocated many times during that period and never received any e-mails about this particular site of mine being outdated as far as contact info. Also, my site was never suspended even though my contact info was outdated, until now. How was I supposed to know about something I had no prior knowledge, experience, or way of knowing about? And now I have to deal with the consequences of this Google disappointment. I'm not in the business of website design; only an expert in that field would know, without having to be warned, that his/her site could be suspended in such a situation. Of course, Homestead's billing department always has our contact info through our main account, so Homestead did have a way of reaching us to forewarn us. Yes, this mishap could have been prevented.

All registrars are subject to this regulation including Godaddy. It may be that you simply have more current info on the Godaddy domains, or that they have yet to attempt to contact you.
Whatever you decide to do, I strongly recommend that you check every domain for current information, or it will be suspended at some point.

MY SITE DISAPPEARED FROM THE WEB.
Apparently my domain website has been down for some time. I have not received any emails and no visitors for more than a week. When trying to go to my website Google cannot find it.....is anyone else having this problem?

If the same thing happened to you (site suspended due to nonverification), you can correct that problem by following the instructions given above by "Drew N."
Now, as to the Google search issue... when my site was suspended, that's when it disappeared from Google's search results. My site has been back up now for four days and has not yet appeared back in Google's search results. For many years it was listed at the very top, using certain keywords and phrases, but it's now completely wiped out from anyone's Google searches altogether. I don't know how to remedy this. Perhaps someone here can help shed some light on what to do about the Google situation???

I do see that your pages are indexed in Google, so it seems to be a ranking issue. There are always other factors as well with Google. When did you last see your self near the top? How often did you look?

I was at the top since publishing my website back in 2005 and remained there the entire time, all the way through the point at which my site got suspended due to nonverification last week. Prior to the site going down, I checked the search results about once a week. So my site remained at the top consistently the whole time until now.

I can't find any specific information on how Google is handling these domains. What I do know about Google is there are many ways to rapidly lose rank, but no way to quickly regain it, unless they recognize the issue and act to restore at least some of the previous ranking points.

I have not just lost ranking I have disappeared. If you put in the URL of the website the ranking does not matter and you go directly to that website. When I enter my URL, Google says OOPS! Google cannot find! This means that my site is no longer available to anyone on the WWW.....I am paying Homestead to host my domain and something has gone wrong. A few weeks ago it was working fine, now it does not exist!

I had read all of these complaints and the replies. I checked my information that Homestead uses and found everything was correct. I did not realize there are two different information areas as I discovered when I went back and searched everything and found that the domain info was an old email address. I have since changed both info areas and put a new email address in. What am I suppose to do after I saved it. How does ICANN get notified of my changes and get me and my site verified?

We'll be happy to help you out here. Can you tell me where are you are stuck? I reviewed the notes left on your account and I see that you were informed that the domain needed to be verified, the contact info was updated and the verification email was sent to you. However, the domain was not verified on your end. You'll have to follow the steps in the email. I did double check and the email was sent to the new AOL address that was added to the account. If for some reason you can't find it let me know and we'll send it again.

EMAIL STILL ISN'T WORKING... is it really that hard to get reliable email service with Homestead??.
My email quit on the 21st. I have received no email using the OX Open Exchange Server. What is wrong? I can't call homestead. Only learned of this on Sat AM. This has been a torment and these continual email issues have me considering canceling. How much business have I lost because of this? What is worse I had just done a large group email broadcast and usually get response. NOTHING. This stinks.

Cannot set up e-mail account with Outlook 2010 and cannot receive e-mails in Hmail account.
With this new Hmail platform, I cannot set up e-mail account with Outlook 2010 with the instructions given by Homestead. When I try to set up e-mail on Outlook, I get error "550 Administrative prohib". I have checked the box "My outgoing server (STMP) requires authentication" under Outgoing Server tab.
In addition, I am no longer receiving e-mails in my Hmail account. I can send e-mails from my Hmail acccount.
Is anyone else having this problem setting up their e-mail account in Outlook and not receiving e-mails in their Hmail account?
Why isn't Homestead available on weekends for this transition to a new platform? Unbelievable!

Server Not Found.
My website is no longer showing up! It shows as being pointed to the correct place in my "domains" settings in Homestead and the site it's pointed to is fine but the URL doesn't seem to work. I didn't realize it was down until my client told me that it's been this way about a week. Any suggestions? I have used Homestead since 2002 and have never had this issue before. We are sorry if you domain was suspended, but Margaret6651 is correct. All domains are regulated by ICANN no matter where you register it. We sent several emails to all accounts last January when this went into effect. We have also had this topic for nearly a year.
