This conversation is no longer open for comments or replies and is no longer visible to community members.

Please read through this topic carefully, as the instructions must be followed in full to reactivate your domain.

If your website and email are not working, please check your domain status. This is done using a Whois Lookup. Enter your domain name and go through the CAPTCHA challenge, then click continue. Look for the domain status. If you see clientHold, then your domain has probably been suspended.

When a domain is registered you agree to maintain current contact information on the domain. ICANN, the governing body of domains, instituted a new policy in 2016; any updates will be required to be verified by the domain owner within 15 days, or the domain will be suspended until successful verification is completed.

If the email address is changed, then you MUST receive and verify the change to the new email address before the hold is lifted.
It is critical for everyone that you double check the contact information on your domains, especially the email address. After you update any domain information, look for the verification email and follow the instructions provided. If you are able to log in to your Homestead account, this is a very simple process.

If your domain is suspended, you will need to log into your Homestead account, proceed to the Domain tab, and update the contact information to trigger a new verification email. If you update the email address, you will have to verify that email address. NEVER use an email address associated with the domain that is already suspended. Please note in addition to updating the email address, a postal code and a state/province are also required.

This is not a Homestead policy, this also applies to all top level domains(TLDs). To ensure your website and email stays active, you can log into your account and update the domain information today if necessary.

View the screenshots below to see how to update the information.

1) Log into your account at http://www.homestead.com. Click on the domains tab, find the domain in question, and click the Edit Contact Info.

2) All the information in this picture is REQUIRED, except phone ext, fax number, and Address Line 2. If you live in a country that doesn't use the postal code, go to http://www.google.com and search for: postal code (insert your address) You must have a valid postal code. Your email address must be one you are currently able to log in to. Click Save

3) Keep an eye on your email. Usually within an hour you will receive an email asking you to verify the information There is a link on the email. You will be taken to a web page. You must click on the verify button. Once done, usually the domain will be up and running within the hour, but in some cases it can take up to 48 hours for all services to resume.
If you cannot log in to the account, please continue reading.

If you do not have access to the Homestead account, then you will need to send an email to compliance@homesteadsupport.com. To prove ownership, you will need to send a color copy of a government issued ID, the best is a driver's license that has the same address as the account. Additional information may also be required if you updated the physical address or your license does not match the address. In each case you will need to prove the old and new information. You can do this by sending a copy of an old utility bill or other document. Compliance will respond to you in 24-48 hours. If the information you provide is not sufficient, then they will request something else.

Additional note: ICANN periodically sends emails to the domain owner. If your email address is out of date then you will not receive this email. If it bounces back to ICANN, your 15 days has begun. They will send several more emails to you, but you will not receive them at the defunct address. Your domain will be suspended, so please check the information on your domain and keep it current at all times.

Thank you from
Your Homestead Support Team

March 29, 2014, Site Down, No Email, No Support Available (Homestead to Big Commerce Migrant).

My site is down. When I contacted Big Commerce (Homestead migrated me to them this past December), they referred me back to Homestead stating they were unable to provide support for my site. There is no indication of an outage on Homestead's page. Is anyone else unable to access their site (Homestead t
o Big Commerce migrants)? Also, no support on a Saturday...what the heck Homestead?

Thanks Drew. I owe you an apology, this forum is on the ball! I changed my contact info, received a new email, followed the link, and I am now crossing my fingers in hopes that this will resolve the problem.
Thanks again for your FAST response and your help (and for disregarding my snarkiness...I hang my head in shame). I appreciate it!

You are welcome. We are working very hard to improve the community as well. You should see the site back within 48 hours though usually 1-2 hours will do it.
The registrar shows it as unuspended now, so it is just a matter of waiting now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Actually I did check the Status Page but your notification was not posted until 2:36 pm (not sure what time zone that is actually based on) and my issue started early in the morning (7:30 am eastern time). However if that Notification could be 'followed' like posts, it could be broadcast to those who wish to know and may have saved me some precious time.

The reason why you received the error is that you also must enter a postal code. Your location has only recently approved postal codes. The best I could find was you need 6 digits, starting with 12. I just made up the last 4. Give that a try.

Hi,

I am having problems getting to my website: www.marchmontcc.com

It looks as if this may be to domain issues as noted on this forum post (https://community.homestead.com/homes...) but when I have followed the steps, I get the message others have also had:

"Unable to Complete Your Registration

We are currently unable to register your domain. Please try again at a later time."

Please can you advise what I can do.

Thanks

Sorry for the issue you are having. It is likely due to needing to have a state and postal code added. These are required by ICANN. For the state, put UK and you should have a postal code(no spaces)

If you still are unable to change, let us know.

Update the contact information to an email address you currently have access to.  Make sure that your address and phone number are in proper format as well.  There can be no pound(#) signs or periods(.) in the address or phone.

URGENT: Website and Email Still Not Functioning!.

The Homestead Status Blog says everything has been resolved, but this most definitely is NOT the case.

Our website www.doorcountycommunityfoundation.org is down.

All email being sent to that domain is being returned saying that no host at the domain doorcountycommunityfoundation.org can be found.

This problem has been occuring since approximately 9 a.m. central time on Saturday 9/26.

We have several other domains and different websites under this same account, and all those other sites are working fine.  Only this one is down.

Of course, it is also by far our most important domain and it hosts our most highly used email addresses.

This is enormously problematic as all of our clients are currently getting their emails kicked back to them as if we have gone out of business.

Please advise as soon as possible.

I have several other web sites with Homestead and so for all is good.

The email address on the domain is barrrydalgleish@worldnet.att.met.  You need to go to the Domain contact information and change the email address to one that you are currently able to receive email.  You will then need to verify the change per the email you receive.  You can't use any email address @barrydalgleish.com, as the domain is already suspended.

You will need to verify the domain per the instructions above.  Make sure you use an email address you are able to check now.

Thank you. I am not a geek so bear with me. What I gleamed from skimming the instructions above, were cases where the email address had been changed. I have not changed my contact email address. Thank you so much for helping me with this.

Your domain email address is a.kouroupis@comcast.net.  A series of emails was sent to that address to verify the domain.  No response was received, so by ICANN regulations the domain is suspended.  You will need to update your domain contact information to trigger a new email to be sent.  If you have access to the comcast email then change something else.  If you don't, then put a new email in there that you can access now.  Shortly you will receive an email asking that you verify the change.  Click on the link in the email and make sure the change is verified.  It can then take up to 48 hours to resume working, though it is usually much faster.
