I made a contact us button and linked it to my email address saved and previewed my page and the email link only opens a blank page titled "about blank page".
Why and how do I fix it so that it opens to send an email message?

Hi Terri,

Thanks for posting!

It looks like you setup the email link to open up someone's default email program on their computer. In this case when I clicked on your contact button, it opened up Microsoft Outlooks for me to send you an email. This way does work, but will be problematic for anyone who doesn't have an email program setup on their computer.

On thing you could do is make a contact us page and then have a small form on that page for one to fill out. Once they hit the submit button, you would get an email notification with their information.

Hope that helps!

Chris

That makes no sense, I have my other two pages set up with just a link to my email address and it has worked great all these years. Now, if I want email to get to me I have to make another useless page which makes no sense when you think about it but then again nothing about the way homestead is run these days makes sense.
Is there any other way around this? In all my time with Homestead it has NEVER taken me so long to get a page up and running. I call support and get stuck on hold forever (1 hour) and when I hang up and call back I still don't get any help. The sad part is that Intuit actually thinks they have made improvements.

Hi Terri,

I apologize for the frustration. Anytime you have an active email that is clickable, your computer will try to open up a program to allow you to send an email to that person. Unfortunately it won't open up their online email accounts such as gmail or yahoo mail. For this reason, if someone doesn't have a program such as outlook or mail on their computer, it will give you an error.

The link works as I clicked on Contact Us on all your pages and was taken to Outlook to send you an email. There is one other option you can do which is to add the contact button element which will load a pop up form instead of having to create a new page.

1. Click Insert in the top toolbar.
2. Mouse over Contact Form and select Contact Button from the drop down.

If someone clicks on this button, it will then open up a form to send to you.

Again sorry for the frustration. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Chris
