After logging into your account on Bigcommerce you can edit the email server by following the steps below.

Important: This is for Homestead Hmail users only. If you use a 3rd party email provider, you will need to obtain their SMTP information.

1. Click "Setup and Tools
2. click "Store Settings"
3. Click "Miscellaneous"
4. Click the radio button next to "Let me specify my own SMTP server details"

5. Update the SMTP Hostname with: smtp.homestead.com, your hmail email address, and hmail password, as shown in the image below.
6. Enter 587 for the SMTP Port #.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Update email server in Bigcommerce.

I found two messages in my spam box. One to me and one to the customer, both had a message saying,

"Hello, this is the mail server on smtp10.bigcommerce.com.

I am sending you this message to inform you on the delivery status of a
message you previously sent. Immediately below you will find a list of
the affected recipients; also attached is a Delivery Status Notification
(DSN) report in standard format, as well as the headers of the original
message.

delivery failed; will not continue trying"

So apparently, all emails sent from Bigcommerce are going to spam folders. Why is this? This has never happened in the past.

What does "hmail" mean? I entered smtp.homestead.com, our email address, password, and 587 and then clicked Test STMP Settings. This came up in a window:

The test email could not be sent successfully to mountainairherbs@yahoo.com for the the reasons below:

No Connection

That is just branding term used for Homestead email. If you have email accounts set up with Homestead we refer to them as Hmail. If it's giving you a "no connection" error double check for any typos and re-enter the password.

If you haven't changed your email password for a long time, it may need to be updated to something more secure. If you check for typos, and find no errors, then change the password and test it again.

Here are the steps for updating the email password; https://community.homestead.com/homes...

So, by changing the email settings from default to my own, is that going to send order notifications to my Homestead email rather than Yahoo? I never use Homestead email.

I checked our profile settings and order notification settings and both have our correct yahoo address. We have not changed anything. We used to receive notificaitons just fine. Have you (Homestead/Bigcommerce) updated something?

It's possible that changes on both Homestead's side and/or the Bigcommerce side may have caused this. If the instructions posted above don't work let us know what happens and any new errors.

I received two more failed delivery messages in my spam folder this morning. This means my customers are likely not getting order confirmation emails and I am not getting order notifications. I need this problem to be fixed TODAY. I started this topic on Saturday and it is now Tuesday. This has gone on too long.

Linda9586, No, this only affects emails sent from the store. You can still receive your order notifications at your Yahoo address. That option configured in a different area. To set up/edit order notifications visit: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

Ok, so I configured my email according to your above directions. I then tested the settings and I got an email in my yahoo spam folder as follows:

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its

Then I placed an order on my store to see if it would send the notificaiton, and I got nothing from Bigcommerce/Homestead in either my inbox or spam folder. All I got was a PayPal notification.

OK... There must be some content in the actual email itself that the Yahoo email system is flagging as spam, since you are getting a similar result. By changing the mail server like you did, that eliminates the server being blocked/flagged as spam. Can you mark/whitelist the email from within the Yahoo email?

Mike
