I am trying to transfer a domain to Homestead. I made sure the registrar info was updated, the domain unlocked and the privacy set to public. Got the authorization code and thought everything was okay. Waiting on Tucows to make it official and then I get an email that said the transfer had failed and to click a link in the email to contact Homestead. All it does on that page is 3 dots trying to load the rest of the page which is where I assume I can get the info I need to complete the transfer. Could it possibly be that because yesterday was a holiday that no one is available to complete the transfer, either at Tucows or Homestead? The domain is business domain and I would really like to get it transferred and put on the website I just built.

It appears as though that domain has a 60 day lock on it. Did you update the contact information recently?

I just read the email again and it appears you are correct. I am building a new website for my boss' business. He deleted the old website but the domain was still held at Yahoo (actually the company that manages Yahoo's websites). The old email address on the domain was no longer correct and so I changed it to mine as I will be handling the domain. I understand the need for a lock so unscrupulous individuals can't steal domains but 60 days? I guess I may have to go begging at the previous host and see if they will make an exception. Thank you for your time.

They can't make an exception, but if you update some information again, then you should be presented with an option to opt out of the 60 day lock.

Thank you, Drew, for that tip. I was able to get the 60-day lock taken off. I still have the message that I need to contact Homestead (which the link still doesn't work) because the transfer failed (this was from my previous attempt yesterday). I have everything I need to initiate the transfer now. Is there a way you can re-set my request for the transfer and get the ball rolling again?

Yes I can. I will get it started and you just watch for the email asking for the code.

The email should be on the way. Let me know that you receive it and are able to enter your authorization code. It can take some time for it to arrive.

Yes, I received the email and was able to enter the authorization code, which was then confirmed as accepted. Thanks again for your great help with this!

You are welcome. It looks like it is transferred and working for me, though there may still be some DNS propagation time for everyone.
