I have not switched to the new website builder software yet and noticed my site is not mobile friendly with Site builder. Must I switch over in order to have this (mobile friendly)  happen?

You old site can be made mobile friendly using Dudamobile. You can find a link at the bottom of the websites manager page. The new builder is not yet intergated to the account, but when it is, that builder will automatically make a mobile site for you.

Just to clarify one point Sherry, if your website has been built under sitebuilder ( desktop) or sitebuilder + you will need to rebuild your website on the new structure to enjoy the benefits of a "responsive" website... Having looked at some of the preliminary screen shots I think it will certainly be worth the effort if you want a website for the 21st centaury

I don't have it yet, but it hopefully won't be long. Yes, they do rank slightly better on mobile searches. It is expected that it will become more important as time goes on. It is also important to note that at this time only phones are considered mobile for this purpose. Tablets are not.

i am having fun re-building :O)
my question is when i went to click the mobile icon on top it said something about editing - but can i just use the software and it will automatically "respond" to mobile?
or do i need to edit the mobile version too?

With the new builder, your website should be mobile friendly by default when trying to view it on a mobile device. Is your website not showing mobile friendly after you have published?

The new builder has an option to edit the Mobile version at the top left, so there won't be a need to set the Dudamobile with it. Also, when you are ready to associate the domain over, you can easily do so by going to the Domains page and changing the site association.
