I cancelled my account, deleted my website and my domain that I had created via homestead. I am now trying to use the same website domain (exampleofbuisnessnamehere.com) but via a different service provider (such as google or wix etc). But everywhere I try, it says my domain is taken already. How do I get the domain name back!?

First you need to visit https://lookup.icann.org/ and see who the domain name is registered to. If it's still you there shouldn't be much of a problem but it will still require some effort on your part. I'm pretty sure homestead or your new host can help you with that. However, If it's now registered with someone else being the owner your options have become very limited if any at all. Of course there's always the .net, .biz, .org, etc option.

Good luck.

Hello Stephanie,

Thanks for reaching out. I do see that you deleted your domain name off of your Homestead account but that unfortunately does not close the account. What I can do if you are still looking to use the domain stephswagginpetcare.com is restore the domain name and prep it for transfer. I will be unlocking the domain and sending you the authorization or epp code for the domain. You will need to reach out to the new company you will be transferring the domain to and provide that code to them in order to continue using it. I will also process the closure of the account so you will no longer be billed going forward and you will receive an email confirmation.
