Have a website (www.shallowcreek.org) on old site builder. Want to us the new website builder, so it is mobile friendly. How do I do this and keep the same web address, the www.shallowcreek.org ?

You just need to log in to Homestead.com and click on the Websites Manager tab. You will see a button toward the top right that says "Add New Website". You will need to give it a temporary name that ends in .homesteadcloud.com and start building your site. Once you are done building the site, you just need to change the site association on the domain to the new site you created. This will be done under the Domains tab.

Also you will be able to download your files from the old site to your computer (pictures & stuff). Use a separate window with your old site open to cut & paste the general content and text.  It's a little bit of a pain, but isn't hard and won't take too long.  I have done it several times.  Good luck!

I have been putting this off for some time, but will attempt it today. My concern, when I am finished, it will still be the same web address, after I finish?

OK, I copied everything over to the new, temporary site--all finished. Now, I want to use the old web address for the temp site. You mentioned doing this through the Domain tab. I got to the Domain tab, but from there I am lost. What now ?

If you go to the Domains tab, underneath the domain you are wanting to use, you'll see "Change site association" Click that and choose the temporary site name you picked for the new site from the drop down list and Save.

Hmm, this is what I got:
Domain can not be associated to the selected site.

The selected site already has a domain associated to it. WebsiteBuilder supports only 1 domain association for a site at a time. Please disassociate the existing domain and try again.

This is going to sound silly, but do I have to publish the temp site first ?

I've seen that before, and it just means that the button was double-clicked, so it submitted that change twice. I can see that the site has been switched.

Yes, the site should be published.

I did just happen to see that your domain is pointed to Cloudflare nameservers. We would need to switch the DNS over in that account. If you feel comfortable doing that, they need to be switched to :

1. A Record:   www    Points to:    146.148.102.201

2. A Record:     *         Points to:    146.148.102.201

3. A Record:    @        Points to:    146.148.102.201

If this is not something you feel comfortable doing on your own, you can definitely call and have one of our representatives do it for you.
Otherwise, we can point the nameservers back to Homestead because we will be providing automatic SSLs through our Website Builder very soon.

Hi,
I called in Friday and the name servers were changed. Checking the site now, it says the web address (www.shallowcreek.org) is associated with the temp site I created. So if I now publish the temp site, it will come up as www.shalllowcreek.org ?

Yes, you can publish your site and it will work when you go to your domain name.
