I have recently updated my products area on my website and previewed and published it, but when I log out and view it from my computer or any other computer the updates don't show up and it looks like how it did before I changed it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the changes appear?

2 pages published fine then the third would not change.
it happened on the first template I tried, so I changed designs and it did it again.

I have added an image to my index page that is NOT showing up. The image is gif, there is not a space issue, and everything is showing up as published on the Homestead manager. I also created a new page with a jpeg image - it is showing up just fine. So why not the gif graphic on my index page? I have tried clearing my cache and cookies to no avail.

So what else could be the problem!?!?

hanks for the suggestion. I tried removing html one at a time as you suggested prior to posting here. It's good advice, I've ran into that before. But I didn't try ALL of the htmls (I did about half) found on this page. . . May go back and work on that more.

Interestingly, the image isn't showing anywhere on the page using Google Chrome, but was showing in the wrong place on Internet Explorer 11 (though under the Instagram stream box), and in same wrong place on the Droid app - but on top of the Instagram stream box. I also notice the Instagram and Pinterest boxes were the wrong size (noted by the frame placed around each) in Internet Explore, but were fine in the other two browsers.

That is interesting. Let us know if you do or do not find an HTML element that causes this. Don't forget the code in the head tag too. Unfortunatelt, due to differences in browsers and the rapid changes in browsers, there can often be slight differences in how certain commands are interpreted. Usually it isn't a problem, but sometimes it is noticeable. Then it is a matter of figuring out the cause.

Been playing with removing the html then adding the graphic (now called openbirdhouse.gif). The problem seem to be with the Flickr (I inadvertently called this Instagram earlier) streaming HTML. . . But can't figure out the problem with the coding as of yet.

At least you are tracking it down. Maybe they change something and you need to generate new code for the feed. If you try that feed on another page, does it cause trouble there too?

Preview page while editing & published page is different..

While I was editing my website, I logged out & went back in. When I went back in, it gave me a pop-up message asking whether I want to view this locally or something else (I don't remember) because I had 2 different looking websites & they didn't match. It's mostly the left side of the website with the links (home/about/services/contact us) that I'm having trouble with.

After editing, I click to preview & it looks correct. And, it doesn't seem to let me publish the changes I want made to the links side. So, when I type in the domain name in the address box of my web browser, I'm getting something different. It's showing me my website with links on the left side of the page with wide white stripes between each link that doesn't show when I'm editing or if I click preview web page. Also, the font is in a different color than what i chose. Can someone tell me what happened & how to correct this? I appreciate your help

The troubleshooting steps above will help you identify the discrepancy between what you see in SiteBuilder and the live site. The first issue you mention, is from an auto-save feature. If you forget to save, it does an auto save for you and you'll get a message saying that the "published copy is different than the local copy", Then it will prompt you with questions such as; Would you like to view the published copy, would you like to view the local copy etc. The local copy is the one on your computer. You'll have to be a careful to read the prompts carefully especially if you have intentionally made changes on your computer but did not publish them.

If you are ever unsure of what to do, its usually safest to use the published copy as most people publish intentionally.

Content shows up in Preview, it does not appear on the site.

Also, I've tried to add new content to my website. Although it shows up in Preview, it does not appear on the site if I go to it through Google. Is this a separate problem or is it related to the email switchover?

Are we going to be compensated for the loss of email access?

Note: This topic was created from a reply on the After the Email Platform Upgrade, what information will transfer over to my new e... topic.

Nkiki,
When in your site editing program - look to the left side of the screen. You will see 'Home', 'Page Manager', and 'File Manager.'

I'm not sure what kind of content you are needing to add to your site, or what your site is, so can't help you with that. But I'm wondering, after reading your initial post again, if you are saying the new content is viewable in other browsers? I know my page looks different in different browsers. Key is trying to hit a middle ground so it looks good (enough) in all.

As far as the e-mail issue - I have no answers. I've never used Homestead's e-mail option.

Nikki, if you are not seeing the link to the File Manager as Robin0707 explained, then you have probably closed the side bar.

You'll just need to click. View > SiteBuilder Bar > Show SiteBuilder Bar

At this point, you'll see the link to the File Manager.

You can also click: View > File Manager.

If this post helps, please give a "Star" and complete this survey to rate me.

Thanks!

Mike

Thanks for your comment, Robin. I added information about my new book to one page. That new info does not show up at all on other browsers.
I did find the "file manager" button on the left side of the screen, but the instructions in the Official Response refer to selecting any unpublished files and clicking the Publish button. No Publish Button appears on the file manager page I found.
I know I'm a complete idiot about tech stuff, but if the picture in the instructions does not match the page I'm looking at, how am I supposed to figure things out?

Time for another defenestration, I think.

Maybe all my screaming at it worked, or something. I uploaded two files that appeared to have nothing to do with what was wrong, and the site appears to be fixed now. I guess the defenestration propitiated the techie gods, or maybe it was just that I threatened to bring in my techie son. It's all voodoo to me anyway. No matter how "easy" anything computerish is purported to be, I end up in tears.

I made some changes to my website www.mydogstutor.com by changing the navigation from text to buttons and the logo from text to a jpeg. When I preview the site everything looks great, when I publish it the graphic buttons and graphic logo are not there the text navigation and text logo remain. Yet if I go to my account, the little snapshot of the website (on Website Manager) looks as it should but when I click on view my site the graphics are replaced by the old text. https://www.homestead.com/~site/Scrip...

I use SiteBuilder to update my site. I upload the change asking to view the page. The changes work. I access site with Internet Explorer or Chrome and the site has not been changed. I open SiteBuilder and it shows that the changes are still there. Do you have an explanation for this?

I posted on this probably 6 months ago and was told to uninstall the sitebuilder on my computer & reinstall (did that twice) and tried a bunch of other tricks back then. Got frustrated and just left my website with incorrect information until I had time to deal with it later. Got someone on chat yesterday and they wanted me to go through the same thing...I finally asked them what plan B would be if I went through all that hassle & clunky procedures - they told me to use the online SiteBuilder Plus. Did that, made the changes to my website and it immediately published. So the fastest thing I think is going to be using that process instead of the old desktop Sitebuilder. Log in to your account, Go to the Websites Manager section in your account and click Edit Site to launch SiteBuilder Plus

We do indeed recommend SB+, but some people who are not familiar with it insist on using the desktop version. Once most people get past the learning curve they usually prefer it!

Thanks for posting!
