I have recently updated my products area on my website and previewed and published it, but when I log out and view it from my computer or any other computer the updates don't show up and it looks like how it did before I changed it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the changes appear?

Hi nancy7187,

Sorry for any confusion but you should have received some email regarding an upgrade to the SimpleStore. You may have noticed that there are now two pages in your store that display the products. Your original page which is, Simplestore, and the new page called My Store. You'll want to make any new updates to the new page called My Store. Right now it just has a plain white background, and it is not linked to the navigation menu. If you are ready for this page to be linked/accessible from the main navigation menu, I can fix the link. and if you want the background to match the other pages of the site I can help with that to. Just let me know if you want me to change it.

Sorry for the slow response. Did you get this resolved? Usually it is a caching issue in your browser and can be solved by just visiting the page and hitting the f5 key on your keyboard.

Hope this helps

I am having the same problem and I am not using Simplestore.

I have one page that originally had two photos on it I replaced those two photos with two new ones that are viewable in Sitebuilder. I've saved the file that I go to PREVIEW but the original two photos still appear. I went back to Sitebuilder and I see the replacement photos. I published but the published site still shows the original two photos not the replacements.

It looks the same to me. Perhaps you just need to hit the f5 key on your keyboard as well. Give it a try and let us know if it still doesn't work.

Thanks

Good morning, are we talking about the About us page? These are the images I see on the live site, and they are the same in Sitebuilder. Are you on another page? Are these the incorrect images?

Thanks

My problem resolved itself overnight. I did clear out the cache of stored websites. Your PC stores web images and recalls them when you return to a specific URL so that ultimately you have the stale data returning to your screen but you think it is current. Clear your cache files and any stored web images. Also try using the F-5 key. If you can see your new contact in the SiteBuilder Plus work area, then you save and publish but don't see the same images in the site after publishing, try repeatedly hitting the F-5 key,

Official Response
It is actually very uncommon for pages not to publish, unless your hosting account does not include enough disk space to accommodate the size of your site, in which case you will receive an upgrade message when trying to publish. If you do not get an upgrade message then here are the steps to troubleshoot.

1. First check the file manager to verify if the pages really did or did not publish.
How to access the file manager and verify if pages and files are published: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

2. If all pages (and files) are published and clearing the cache does not work, then the most likely scenario is that you have a broken hyperlink pointing to the wrong page.
Visit this thread to troubleshoot a broken hyperlink: https://community.homestead.com/homes... Note: You will not always get a "page not found, 404 error code" That error will appear if the link is directed to a page that does not exist, or one that has not been published. If your hyperlink is broken in the sense it is linking to the wrong page, no error message will occur, but you can diagnose by following the steps in this link.

3. If all files show published, it may be a simple cache issue.
First try to press the F5 key while viewing your live site. This will refresh the browser and reload the current page. If for some reason this does not work, then clear your cookies and cache using the method here: https://community.homestead.com/homes...

why no pics?.

why are my pics not loading. I created my page and everything looked great, then when I published the page, the pics just are blank with an X in the corner?????

The red X's, indicate that the pictures have not been published, or were deleted or moved to another location in the file manager. As of now, I do not see any of the red X's so I think you may have fixed the problem. This thread shows you some troubleshooting steps if it happens again.

The most common reason is your browsers cache not clearing out. If you clear your cache then its likely the page did not publish or there's a broken link pointing to the wrong page. Follow the three steps above and if you can't identify the problem, reply back with the specific site name, page name, and what you are seeing, or not seeing.

It's most likely issue #1 mentioned above. If that's not it. check 2 & 3.

If you still have problems let us know which page and the name of the image you are having the problems with.

navigation menu not updating.

I added one additional page link and made one link name edit to my navigation menu. The menu shows correct in all my pages in SiteBuilder (PC version). I Save All, Publish All but the old menu shows up on the published pages.

Ok, so I try something, I move the menu bar down the page, save and publish. Viewing the page via web the menu has changed position but still the old text links.

Ii am stumped?

Clearing my cache worked. what had thrown me for a loop was that I moved the menu bar down the page, save and publish. Viewing the page via web the menu has changed position but still had the old text links.

Strange, but is now fine...

This happens to me ALL the time! But it always resolves itself in a few hours... sometimes overnight. For instance, I made a change to several pages last night. They all published correctly except for ONE page - it still showed the old information live, but the new info in Sitebuilder. I got aggravated and went to bed. When I woke up this morning it was all correct.

Doesn't make sense, but at least it seems to "fix" itself!

Hi, this is very common because when you browse to a website, your Internet browser downloads a copy of the pages you visit to you temporary files on your computer. If you revisit that page, the browser takes it from the temporary files to speed up your browsing experience. Most browsers are set by default to check for a new version of the page maybe once per day, so if a change has been made, then you may or may not see it right away.

You can force the browser to refresh the page by pressing f5 on your keyboard at any time.

Depending on your browser, there is probably also an option to change the frequency that it checks for a new page.

Hope this clears it up a bit.

Navigation Menu Won't Update.

I have deleted a couple of links on my navigation menu for my website. It looks correct on my screen within SiteBuilder. However, when I publish the page, those links still show up on every page of my website instead of the new navigation menu that I saved.

Any ideas?

I deleted these links on my navigation bar about a month ago but ran out of time to mess with. Since then, I've had to delete cookies, change my browser, etc. due to some other business software needs. Today I went to my website and hit F5 several times. The old menu navigation bar is still there. I've republished the entire site today and the preview that comes up after that still has the old navigation bar. I hit F5 several times - nothing.

I took a look at your live site and in SiteBuilder and the navigation links are identical. Perhaps you are seeing something different on your end. Can you tell me which links should/should not be there? or include a screenshots when you reply.

Attached is a screen shot. The page on the left hand side is my website
as it is published now. The page on the left is what that page is
supposed to look like from SiteBuilder. The only difference is the
navigation bar (I no longer want 2 of those pages to show up).

Yesterday when I first tried to upload the changes, I had no problem.
Then the 2nd time and again after I tried a clean re-install of
SiteBuilder, I got an error message about uploading files and either to
upgrade or to close the window. I will be requesting a remote session
for someone to see if they can help me fix that error soon.

Thanks,
Shannon

Good morning,

Unfortunately, it does appear that your edited version did not publish. Since you are using Sitebuilder desktop, I am not able to look at anything but the published files.

I do suggest that you contact technical support for assistance in this matter.

Thanks

  • 184,698 Points 100k badge 2x thumb
Hi Cristin0309, Sorry to hear about your problem. I have never heard of or seen files revert back automatically. This sounds like more of a case where either the files are not publishing or a caching issue. Follow the steps in this thread to see if you identify the cause.

You may want to take a screenshot of the published site now, and then if it reverts back again, take another screenshot so that you can reply back to this thread and post the screenshots so we can see what is happening.

Mike
