Yes!   First you will want to save, or convert your audio file to a common format such as MP3.

1. Upload the audio file into the File Manger and publish the file using the upload button on the top menu.  Where is the file manager located?

2. Paste the following html code into your web page where you wish for the audio player controls to appear. How to add html code?

<audio controls>
  <source src="music.mp3" type="audio/mpeg">
  <source src="music.ogg" type="audio/ogg">
  Your browser does not support this audio format.
</audio>

3. Save & Publish the page

Important: Be sure to edit the name of the file name in the html code to match the name of the audio file you imported on step 1.

When the page is published, it will produce a nice clean looking audio player like shown below.

Chrome

Firefox

Internet Explorer

Safari

I have one page with several audio files to be clicked on. The problem is they all start automatically themselves and it sounds awful. How do I get it to stop?

You will need to use code for this. Google Chrome overrides the auto play on our player.

I did this and it worked for 3 of my 4 audio files. For one of them though it works in the preview, but when I go to publish it the file will not play. What should I do now?

My audio files are automatically playing on top of each other even though I have them box unchecked to do this. I have removed the files and then inserted them again and it still does this.

Google Chrome is ignoring the tag we place to not play automatically. At this time you will need to add the audio in HTML to avoid this. I don't have an ETA but the developers are working to resolve this issue.

My audio files are automatically playing when the boxes are not checked to do so.  I have removed them and added them again.  I have refreshed the page too.  Also, the file bars are halfway showing up on the page as in the top half is missing.

This is a known issue with Google Chrome. We are working on it, but for now you must use HTML to make this work correctly

This is a known issue with Google Chrome. For now you will have to use HTML to have multiple audio files on a single page. We are in the process of updating our media players to function properly in all browsers.

Hi Drew, thank you for your help with all the issues users  have,  you  seem to be the only one within homestead that has up to date current information.  Does homestead have any plans for a massive upgrade with their service?  I now have an account with Wix as well, they are light years ahead of homestead.  It's sad to see, homestead was once a leader, I have been a customer for over 10 years.  Here's a sample of some of the defects I'm talking about.  I created a B&B website for a customer, created a contact form so people can email my customer...it works........but when she replies to that email, the customer NEVER receives that email, its automatically routed to form submssions at homestead.  This has cost her and many other people money and time.  There are several other examples that I won't get into here but again I ask the question, is there a massive upgrade is services planned for the next 3-6 months?

The old way of replying to forms used to work very well, until mail admins in many places began to flag them as spam. It uses a method called spoofing, which is increasingly causing messages to be blocked as spam. Mostly this occurs at the server level, so you will never know that it happens. It would be unlikely to make it to your spam filter.

Unfortunately, I don't have all the details concerning development, but I do know there are a number of things coming down the pipe. Some things are still being evaluated and some others are being worked on now. How "major" an upgrade these will constitute will largely depend on if it is something that matters to you.

When we do release new things, we will post them here, in the community, for everyone to see.

This is most likely due to a browser issue, but you might be able to embed it via HTML.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled MP3 audio file automatically plays even when Play Automatically not selected.

I have included an mp3 audio file on the page and made sure the "Play Automatically" is not selected; however, after publishing the page, the file automatically plays. I have tried to delete the mp3 and reload it, but the problem still occurs. I've had other people try loading the page on their browser and it automatically plays on theirs too. How can I get it to stop automatically playing?!?!?!?

Every time someone goes to my web site, all the demos on my home page automatically play at the same time. I don't want any of them to play unless clicked on. I've already checked and they aren't set to pla automatically.

david9415, since you use the old desktop Sitebuilder, you need to delete them and add them in using code. Just replace the name in the code above with your file name.

We are aware of the issue with the Audio player element auto-playing. What we would have to recommend to not auto-play the music is to create HTML snippets with your audio file as shown in this article.
