Hello all.
I would love some feedback on my site: www.travelplanningforyou.com

Also, can anyone tell me how to unpublicize a few pages from my site without deleting them?

My other question is about forms: I would like to post a few forms but only want them accesible to certain people with a password..... is there a way to do that?

Thank you for any and all hell and feedback,
Micky

Hi Micky5475,  Sorry if you saw my first post (which I removed) as it contained an error in the code.

Here is a link that will help you with the password.
Can I password protect my pages?

You can try placing this code on this page in the head section of the pages you wish not to publicize.

We're a bit behind here, but we will be working on these, and hopefully some others will chime in with their opinions.

Hi Tony1352,

First thing is fix your page titles.  Make them at least a little different for each page.  It should tell me quickly what information I will get on that page.  Adding a preferred method of contact can also help get more calls or emails.

You have great content on the site.  I would add alt txt to the images.

If you are going to have the blog on the site, you should set a schedule for creating a new topic.  It doesn't have to be daily, but it shouldn't be so long between topics.  It is a good idea to go back through the old posts and see if anything has changed in any way and update your old posts.

Thanks

Drew

Hi JHalling,   I just finished looking at your site and I think you are off to a good start.  I noticed that there are some pages that are not yet complete.  If it's going to be some time before you are able to finish those pages, it's a good idea to remove the links to those pages. I don't think google and other SE's are very fond of pages that have nothing except "under construction" messages on them.  I would just continue with the same theme and style that you started with and you should end up with a descent looking site.

Hi AfricanSuperstore,   I think the biggest thing you can do to help yourself out is add more pages and content to the site.  From the name of the site, it's clear that you are branding yourself as a store that has African food.  It will be beneficial to expand on that as a means of separating you from the other grocery stores.  You may want to make a full page describing all the various foods that you sell and get about 300+ words of text and content on the page.

Hi Tony,  The biggest piece of advice for a site like yours, is to get a bunch of pictures on a photo gallery page and make a distinct link at the top of the page where it's obvious and easy to find.  People will want to see a lot of pictures of your work. It's ok to mix them on on the other pages, but it might make it more organized to have them all on another page too.

Hi 1oneh2431,   You did a very nice job on the site. I think the one detractor is the green blocks you have on some of the pages. It's hard to read the text.  Here's a great site that you can use to select complimentary colors, which you might want to use. http://www.colorsontheweb.com/colorwizard.asp

When you get to the web page, just move the sliders left and right and then you can choose the hex values next to the colors you want to use.

Hi jay,

I have moved this to our feedback topic.  Hopefully you will get more exposure here.  We will also get there, probably during the week, as you have 68 pages, so we will have a lot to go through.

Thanks

Hi Jay,  you have a great looking site. All the photo's and artwork are very well done and it looks very professional.  I can see that you have gone to a lot of work creating a large number of pages for this site.  This sort of site would probably be much easier to manage if it were build on Storefront platform instead.  Is there a reason you built this in SiteBuilder?

Hi Lynne8086,

You have nice pictures of your work. In the photo gallery, place cations on them. Once you click on the gallery in Sitebuilder the properties editor will pop up on the right. Click on each image and give it a unique caption.

It is always good to have some introductory text on the home page. You need at least 3 pages with 200-300 words of unique content. It would help as well if maybe you made a page concerning how things are done or a history of clay work. This can help establish you as an authority, and maybe provide some interesting reading for some visitors. Also, it will give the search engines more keywords to look at.

On the contact page, you have an image of tons of bowls, it kind of bugs me on top of the vertical bar. I would tuck it just to the left of your social icons so it doesn't look sloppy.

Overall a good site. Simple and clean, easy to navigate and nice pictures.

Thanks

Hi Blake4833,    Your site appear to be pretty small, only having two pages. It's pretty tough to get small sites ranking high in google so the best advice I can give is to try and add a few more pages of content.  Sometimes people often have a hard time writing enough quality text for their sites, so one idea is to create an FAQ page.  Make a list of about 10 or 20 questions that your customers might ask you and then write out detailed responses  to each question on the site. Also, over time, keep taking pictures of your jobs and try to replace and update the site with more/better pictures.

You may also want to take a look at this page for other ideas.

There are just a couple things that you may want to address. First, I recommend making the pages consistent. Use the white background behind the text on all the pages so that they look the same. It's also easier to read with the text on the white background instead of the blue.  Also, I noticed that the link to your home page is broken, It looks like the page name you are linking to is misspelled. It is different than the actual home page name. The home page should always link to "index.html"

Hi jijeztransportations2521,  It looks like you are using a standard template so the site looks just fine. The best advice i can give you is to take some time and write some good content for the site. Try to get at least 300-400 words, or more, per page.  This will help your site with getting found in the search engines.
