The CAPTCHA entry feature for blog comments is much too tough to use. It often just keeps rejecting entries and many of my readers are just giving up. .

George0083,

Thanks for your comment! I agree that some of those captcha codes are just too difficult. The more comments like yours that we receive, the more likely the developers will be to change it. We appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Not good enough. I have readers right now trying to comment and can't do. Do you have any grasp on how serious this can be? Time to step it up with this feature, don't you think?

Hi George... we really do understand the impact that something like this can have. Unfortunately changes in the software business are sometimes excruciatingly slow. If this is having a detrimental impact on your business, as an alternative, you might try using a 3rd party blog tool such as Blogger, which is a Google product. It works very well and can be embedded into your existing web page. If you want to check it out, here is a link to the site. http://www.blogger.com/features

I've been asking for this for two years. There's just no excuse that it has taken this long. It's not a matter of not getting the Captcha right. I have people who have gotten it right over and over and it still does not accept it. I've done it myself and can't comment. It looks like you have never done anything about this. It is not a customer issue...it's a homestead issue. Can't you just disable the CAPTCHA or let us do it.

I agree. I'd like to be able to disable this feature. I don't want people to have to put in a captcha code. It discourages participation.

CAPTCHA IS A NIGHTMARE. I’ve received four emails already this morning that people can’t contact us using this feature. This is costing us money and we’re losing customers. This should be addressed immediately. Thanks

You can actually turn off the captcha by just un-checking the box that says "Show challenge phrase".

CAPTCHA Feature Is Really Terrible. Leaving comments on blogs..

The CAPTCHA feature in the blogs is terrible. It rejects entry after entry, and I can't imagine readers bothering with this. I won't expect many comments on my blog until Homestead fixes this problem. Thank you for listening.

It is case sensitive, but also, if you are testing it over and over on your own screen, you'll probably need to clear your browsers cache for it to work.

I now publish my blog at Wordpress, so I'm losing my incentive to keep the website here at homestead when I can do it all there.

Kristan5259,

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the blog. Unfortunately, as Mike said, changes in software can move very slowly as it is generally not as simple as just changing it. There is so much back end work that has to be done to make even the smallest changes go live. Beyond that, it has been a very busy couple of years. Last September, we were sold to another company, so the majority of our development resources has been devoted to migrating off our old company's servers, and updating everything else to go along with it. Now that we have gotten through the bulk of that sort of dev work, we will have more resources to use towards product enhancements/improvements.

Also, it would not be possible to simply turn the captcha feature off. If there was no captcha, all of the blogs on our customer's sites would be flooded with spam content, and all of the true thoughtful comments from your actual customers/visitors would be lost in a sea of spam.

I hope this helps,
Matt
