Someone please tell me how to block buttons-for-website.com.  It's crazy that I'm receiving all of this bogus traffic.  I'm also receiving bogus traffic from make-money-online.7makemoneyonline.com.  How do I block that website as well.

This is crazy.  I used to be on the first page of google, but now since I'm getting all of this spam traffic, I'm on the third page.  It's ruining my business.  Something has to be done.

Kimberly3437,

Something else has caused this. Google will penalize you if you actively link off your site to a known spam site. Google does not punish  your rankings for visiting bots.

It does mess up your site statistics and that is why we will look into the possibility, but this is not a negative influence on ranking.

What do you mean by "actively link off your site to a known spam site"?  Can you please give me an example?  I did go to the semalt site to block my web address from them.

If you create a link on one or more of your pages that when clicked, takes the visitor to a known spam site, then Google will consider you an enabler of spam and punish your rankings, but if spam bots hit your site, they are not creating any links or anything, so Google is not concerned.

The worst that these bots do is to wreak havoc on your site stats. I see several articles about filtering certain things from Google analytics, but have never tried it. You may be able to use analytics to filter them out.

Can you look at my website to see if I have anything like that please?  My website is www.premierhavanesedogs.com.

By the way, thank you for your quick responses!

You are welcome. And you are clean. You have no outbound links.

Then I wonder why I'm slowly going downward on Google pages/results?

Do you do any work towards maintaining your ranking? Are you targeting specific keywords? Are the results ahead of you relevant? There is a huge amount of stuff that goes into Google ranking

Yes, I target specific keywords...such as Havanese in South Carolina, Havanese puppies for sale, etc.  I do this through the Homestead site builder software installed on my laptop.  The results ahead of me are about Havanese puppies (other breeders).  What "work" can I do to maintain my rating (or improve my rating)?

Thanks again Drew!

If you are talking about the meta keywords, search engines no longer use those as a ranking tool. Try reading our very basic topic first on improving ranking

Thank you Drew.  What is traffic booster and web listings?  How much do they cost?  Would my website benefit from these two options?

Actually, I need to remake that topic a little in terms of our services. We have slightly different options now. If you like, I can have one of our search engine consultants give you a call tomorrow to discuss options.

I have one that ends in 7683. If that works, then yes I will need a different one. Also an approximate time to call.

Yes, that's the correct one to call.  Please call at 12:30 EST tomorrow.  Will that work?

Sounds great.  That's my lunch break, so I should have a fair amount of time to talk.

Kimberly if you use Google Analytics you can block unwanted traffic in it by:
go to the Admin Area
click on Tracking Info
open referral exclusion list and add any URLs you don't want
This is only a fix for Analytics and won't stop the bots from visiting and messing up your other site stats. The only way to do that is if you have server side access which we don't.

If you don't have a Google Webmaster account (this is different from Analytics) I suggest you sign up as it will give you some insight into improving your SEO.

I took a quick look at your home page and a couple of things you can do to improve your SEO:

Shorten your Meta description. Google is currently fooling with this and shortening it up so stay somewhere between 115 and 125 characters including spaces. Your description is what shows up in search results so you want to be sure that your most important key words or phrases fall within the above parameters and will make viewers want to click on your link.

Page titles should be 55 characters including spaces.

Images should all have alt text. A short snippet that describes the image. 9 month old Havanese puppy, etc.

Good Luck and Happy Holiday!
