I get excited when it looks like my site has had several visitors in one day. When I open it up, I find that it is mostly bing preview crawlers. And I am getting very aggervated.

The more spiders the better the way I see it. Why are you aggravated?

because it throws off my true visits. I got on yesterday, it said I had 7 new visitors, when in fact I had 1, the other 6 were crawls throughout the day. I don't mind the crawls maybe 1 or 2 times a day, but numerous times a day, everyday... gets frustrating, because I would really like to know when I am getting real visits from clients.

Once upon a time, I had quite a bit of traffic from a woman's group I led, but I took a sabbatical and stepped down from leadership so I could finish school. I had submitted my site to several search engines, but still no real results.

If you set up a Google Webmaster account you can track what Google is doing and get ideas for improvement.

Hi Kassie, I did a google search by your name (Cypress Ministries) and your site came up number five......however it was the .homestead version. This is not good! Maybe Susan can help? It has been so long since I started a new site that I cant remember why the ,homestead version would still work?

Either Kassie has not purchased the domain name or Drew will need to tweak something.

The domain is shown in our system as a pointed domain, but the pointing never completed. It appears you forwarded it to the .homestead.com URL. Sometimes changing these things can cause a drop in ranking initially before recovering, so if you have good traffic, you may not want to change. If you don't like the traffic, then it would help some to at least forward with masking so the domain shows up in the address bar. Ideally, you would complete the pointing by DNS.
