A password protect page on my site periodically becomes unavailable (and makes my users unhappy!). I have figured out that I can fix this by changing the password, then changing it back. What is the problem here and how can it be permanent fixed. Site is grandvalleykennelclub.org, page is Members Only.

I am not sure what you mean by disappeared. The page is there and the password prompt does come up. What is happening when things aren't working?

Oh sorry. It is still there, but "Page Not Available" message comes up instead of the page when users try to open it.

Ok. Let me look into it. I am not sure what could cause that off the top of my head.

I can post here the next time it does it, in about a month, likely. Is there anything that triggers a required password update? I have not had this problem on other protected pages, just this one.
Thanks!

I have this same problem. Customers click our link (either by email or on our website) and are told that the page doesn't exist. Drew tried to help me, but at the time I was unable to recreate the problem. Drew wanted specifics. Our original conversation was closed and archived so I'm jumping on here. I now have screen shots of what it is supposed to be and what happens when it goes offline. My solution is to go into the page in SiteBuilder, adjust one item, save and publish, and it is fine. However now I'm having to check it often, trying to do it daily, to resolve the problem before a Customer calls to complain. I need this solved because we are looking to create another password protected page. Your help is appreciated.

Oh good. Thank you. Maybe this will help Drew sooner than it happens on my page again.

I just tried it and the password protection was completely gone. I don't know if they are working with it, but it skipped the password box entirely!

Sheesh! That's not good either - there's a reason we have particular pages accessible to only those with password, eh? Hopefully they really are working on it, or maybe Drew is testing it. He is good.

We are looking at these reports. At this point we have not found a cause.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Password Protected Pages.

I have password protected pages . They keep loosing the link them stating the file is no longer available. I republish them and they work for a while. Is there a fix for this????

What pages are supposed to be private that keep unpublishing? Next time you are in the builder and making edits, can you check the page that seems to unpublish and see if the password is still there before you save and publish?

It's good to know there are others having the same issue. It happened again today for a customer. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

I'll check next time it happens, but I haven't found that I needed to reset the password. I just adjust one small item, save and republish, and then it works correctly.

My page is filled with document links if that is part of it.

Wanted to let you know I'm still having problems with this. Just had to adjust and save this afternoon so the login link would appear. Have you been able to make any more head way. I really need this fixed. Thank you.

Can you provide me a list of all the pages that need to be password protected on your website?

As of right now this is our only page, but we planning to do a second page next January.

So it is just this one page. When you edit this page, under the password box, does it stay auto-filled, or do you have to retype the password in when you edit?

If you are talking about the password box under Advances Settings under the Page Settings, I don't have to touch that password box. It always remains filled. To make the password box available to our customers trying to log in, I adjust one thing on the page, save it and republish it. I never have to do anything with the password itself. It seems to be the page, not the password.

The problem still continues. The customer couldn't get in twice: during the weekend and then yesterday. We need a solution!

I'm still having issues with my password protected page going offline. Are you working towards a solution? This is not good with our customers!

Drew I am not using Chrome.  I do most of my editing my website with Win 10 Edge.

Drew, I have not been able to do anything with Firefox. I will as soon as I can. My password protected page has stayed online through the weekend and this week. That is a success in my book. Thank you for your continued monitoring of this situation. I will try Firefox when I am able.

Drew, I was never able to try the website out on Firefox. However, we are going on a month of not having to republish the password-protected page!

Thank you for all your help with this matter. I really appreciate all that you did to help our website function for our customers.

I am having the same problem. When one of our members tries to go to the password protected page it says "page not available, will redirect to homestead. We only have the one password protected page on the website, and it seems to happen to only a couple of our members, but when they call and tell me about it I get the same message on my computer. I then have to go into sitebuilder, reopen the edit for that page, publish even though no changes were made, and then everything is good again. I use win 10 with IE 11. The site is quittersgolf.com and the problem page is "members". Please look into this.
