Got 2 emails yesterday and today with the following: "We are in the process of making changes to our public IP space. This will change the IP address for any CNAME record and nameservers."

What does this mean? What do I need to do? I tried calling by I'm on hold and no one is picking up

I got the same email message today, and it's not any better than the poorly worded message I got yesterday (which we were advised to ignore).  I logged into my Homestead account, clicked on Domain Manager > Edit Your Nameservers,

and it's currently set to:

1. Primary ns1.mdnsservice.com

2. Secondary ns3.mdnsservice.com

3. Additional ns2.mdnsservice.com

Do I need to change it to something else?  Is there any other setting that needs to be changed (if so please provide step-by-step instructions).

Thank you.

Then I don't think you need to do anything more since the name servers that you mentions are theirs. Very confusing letter. They hold my domain name but they do not host my website.

Thanks, Anthony.  Their email also mentioned changing the CNAME record, but I'm not changing anything unless Homestead sends me detailed, step-by-step instructions.

Good choice. I assume you have your email through homestead as well.

No - my email isn't through homestead, it's through gmail servers. Is this a problem??

No if you use gmail then you should be set.

Homestead is supposed to be a service that is geared to non-technical users. So, they send an email that requires higher level skill or is woefully incomplete for a non-technical user. I think I'll wait for them to get their act together and provide better instructions. If they don't, I'll cancel and move my website to WordPress. I'll certainly save money.

I received the same two emails from homestead. My domain DOES NOT  use Homestead's name servers, both my domain and website are hosted by Bluehost. Only the domain name was registered with homestead, and my web designer tells me that if I change anything I will lose all the content on my site. She says we should NOT change anything. Please confirm that this is correct.

Thanks. I don't think they're answering their phones. I tried as well and gave up. Please let me know if you actually get through and learn anything else. Grateful.

FYI, and mine as well, I got yet another (generic) email from Homestead, below. So it's useless to even TRY to call them.

We are currently unable to receive calls to our support number. Engineers are aware of the issue and are working to restore the service. Online chat is unaffected. Updates will be provided as received.

The most amusing part of that is that "...updates will be provided..."

I have just gotten my third email, more confusing than the others. Yesterday, Drew from Homestead advised not doing anything.  The site that hosts my site (not HOmestead) also said not to do anything.  I have tried calling...no answer.  While Drew has been good about replying, I know it is not his fault, but this is now ridiculous.  I have spent far too much time close to the holidays with this nonsense. It would have been almost as ridiculous if they did this any other time, but just before the holidays??? C'mon, guys.  Please provide us with DEFINITE answers. And STOP those foolish emails that, unless you're on THE BIG BANG THEORY, are incomprehensible.

Sorry folks. I will indeed have better instructions soon. I'll merge these topics into it so that you will receive a link

I also have received the same email. my domain is with Homestead, however its hosted by Yahoo and my nameservers point to them. They told me not to change anything either. I have been on hold with Homestead for hours. Like most of others, I have to much going on to waste time with this , is this something I MUST do

Hi all,

If you received this email and have not heard directly from me with instructions, then please create a new topic and mark it private. For security reasons, we will not post the information publicly.

Thank you

Fantastic Drew and how do we go about creating a new topic and marking it private?

From the community, do a search for DNS changes. When you get the results, there will be an option to create a conversation. When you click on it, then you will be able to check a box that says make private.

I think I found my answer in a previous response from you. Does this still hold true? I point mine elsewhere using Name Servers not DNS.

Any domain hosted at omestead, you need do nothing. We can make those change automatically if necessary. The only need for changing is if you point your domain to us by DNS records(not nameserver) AND use Homestead mail. If none of the Godaddy domains use Homestead mail, you will be fine. No changes needed. If you do need to change even one, then you can post here. I can update the DNS directly with the registrar.

Yes. One of your domains seems to point to a site hosted elsewhere, but the other uses our nameservers. As long as the one site is hosted elsewhere, then you will need not take action. I created a new topic for creating private conversations if you need it
